I’m as thrilled as a pig in shit. But iffin I recall correctly, Isles were in first place about this same time last year for about 12 minutes until Columbus won their game. It was a steady downhill slide thereafter. I can’t get my hopes up yet this year.
This year it will be at least 48 hours, since Pitt does not play until tomorrow. I am enjoying this early season, but not getting carried away. Long long way to go. Pretty sure that last season started to fall apart on Dec/Jan.
Haven't watched much of the Isles yet this year, but I did tune in for the 2nd and 3rd periods last night. That was fun. Nothing like a good beatdown of the Penguins to get me excited again.
Different feeling in the 3rd period -- even after the Malkin goal to cut it to 2, I did not have this feeling of impending doom that I have had in the past few seasons when protecting a lead in the 3rd.
I'd like to see Mac extend Enunwa if they are comfortable with his neck being ok. Robbie Anderson too, just leave yourself an out if he fucks up again. I looked at next years WR FA crop, it's pretty meager. Buffalo has a shitton of money too. Robbie and his speed with Josh Allens arm would be lethal.
Robby is a restricted free agent. This past season, a first round tender was about $4mil; 2nd round was just under $3mil. With our cap space, we can lock him in for $4mil - $4.5mil for another year, which gives us that out if he fucks up again. If someone is willing to give us a 1 and sign him to a long term deal, let him go; but I can't see anyone doing that unless he has an All Pro season and is squeaky clean off the field.
Can't blame the guy for squeezing every dime out of his NFL career. It's a business and a very short window to make money.
With that said, he's one of the best Jets, in terms of talent, to ever put on a uniform and deserves to be cheered. It also happens he's a good businessman too.
Can't argue with you at all. Players have short careers and there is nothing wrong with trying to maximize your earnings. But that mercenary attitude comes with a cost -- and in Revis' case, he is not likely to be beloved by any fan base. Maybe after more time passes, fans will embrace him more, but it is hard to erase the memory of the aging vet who did not seem to give a shit during his last season as a Jet.
If I were going to the game, I would applaud him for his contributions on the field, primarily during his first tour of duty with the team. But the reception will not be the same as if it will be for a guy like Mangold
