I’ve been trying to get a grasp on crypto and put some money I can afford to lose in it. But it seems so bizarre to me. Like if I buy a stock I’ll do well based on if company does well. WTF drives crypto? Other people’s desire to buy it later? Also who fuck runs all this. I imagine 100% of my investment just disappearing one day.
I understand some very smart people love it and I’m just an idiot.

It is not like buying a stock. I have looked into it and all the articles I read make me more concerned about losing my investment due to hacking more than market influences. I would love to drop a few thousand on this but it is just so difficult to do.

I used to work with a guy who picked up some Ethereum for less than a buck. It's at $358 now. It all seems complicated to buy and I'm not at all saavy when it comes to crypto.

I wouldn't be adverse to throwing some speculative money at crypto but I just don't understand it. I've concluded there is really little to understand and it just appears to be driven by supply and demand of speculators. I also draw the parallel to musical chairs and you may not be able to find your seat, i.e., crypto, after the music stops playing. However, kudos to the guys who thought this up, I'm sure they are on their yacht laughing.
