So to compete with the kid FF2@s daupne knows, the government will have to make it illegal again to the make money they think they should make. Oh the irony oh Say what now? If possession is legal and street-weed is cheaper, what is the incentive for anyone to pay for Gov. weed? What is the dis-incentive for street dealers? I thought that was pretty pretty clear.

So is selling weed on the street a misdemeanor? I'm not clear on this. I know they specifically legalized "giving" weed to anyone 21 and older as long as no compensation occurs, the implication being the sale of street weed is still illegal. So basically, cops arresting street dealers would be acting as revenue agents for the gov. (eliminating competition). I dont know how they'll reconcile this.

Well, a few things. I have to assume buying it from a non-liscenced dealer is still a crime. And the shop's product is regulated, i.e. it is want it says it is and nothing else is in there. Also shops have a wide array of product, gimme, chewable, lollipops etc. If Aunt Helen is gonna give it a shot for her insomnia she might be more likely to go that route.

Now I'm being told to keep my medical card because while there will be less variety, it will be cheaper than a recreational dispensary. So if I'm ok with what I've been getting, I won't have to pay a premium and I can always broaden my horizons if I want to pay more for recreational. Makes sense.
By the way, 32, my NYPD dec sister asked me if she should invest in a dispensary. She has 3 1/2 years until retirement. I'm like "Might want to revist that when you're out, idiot."

It just went full rec in my home state of NM today. They're going to tax the shit out of it but people will be allowed to grow 12 plants per house. That will add to the black market and reduce all business to the new legal market for all dispensaries.
I currently have my medical card and I'm glad I will not have to renew it every year, although I haven't been to a dispensary in about a year because of the black market.

If that is your only means of getting good cannabis you should definitely keep your card. Medical cannabis will always be cheaper than a full rec store but I wouldn't be surprised if both types of distribution merge together and you end up getting a discounted price if you have your card....at least that is what is happening out here.
