I would say "bitches" in the title, but I don't have the energy ... Been there on and off since 5 AM Friday. My husband had emergency surgery for internal bleeding and is now in Intensive Care. They say he's slowly getting better but I don't know how long he'll be in ICU or in the hospital. Guess we'll be watching the NFL games in his ICU room today, if he's awake enough. I'm supposed to have tomorrow off for MLK Day but my boss has decided we should all work because "we had a lot of time off at Christmas and New Years." Nice, huh? Not sure how I can visit my husband or deal with doctors if I have to work all day. Sucks. Oh well, sorry for the "downer" thread -- not very hampur-ish. I've missed all the shenanigans on here for the past few days. Just got through the Glenn/tony/cease-and-desist thread, oh hell, that made me laugh. That and the Kelvin thread, priceless. Praying for your husband and you.

Hope he gets better fast. Why don't you tell your boss that you have a dream of being by your husband's side while he is in the hospital? Thanks. It's weird. She's usually fine with people taking time for personal reasons. But this holiday is bizarre. She says that no company gives off MLK Day, which is just untrue in our industry. She likes to think she knows something we don't. Or she's trying to please her boss, who mostly works in India, where our parent company is, and who, of course, don't have the holiday. But you're right. I should be able to stay with my husband while he's in the Intensive care.

Damn, well hope everything goes ok! Your boss sounds like a total dick. Would you like me to call or email him/her? I'd be happy to help. LOL, what a scary thought. She would shit a brick, to use a crude phrase, if some guy named Hitman from the internet called her. OMG, just the thought of it. Thanks for the offer though.

Hey LSL, sorry to hear about this. If you want to talk, you know how to get in touch with me. Either way, nothing but good thoughts coming your way... Thanks! I may, since this is something not related to his two chronic conditions, so I am a bit worried.

Cheers to you and your husband LSL. May he come back stronger and kickin'. I watched a lot of football games in patient rooms, visiting my uncle over the years and it's kind fun - a good escape from the clinical environment. During the game the seriousness of everything just fades away and it's simply a game of football where you don't care so much who wins. Have a good day together, the both of you. Thanks, I wish we had been able to see the game. For some strange reason, the hospital tv wouldn't get any Fox channels. Don't know if it was the provider or the hospital or what. Sounds like we missed a great game. But we do get CBS so can see the Colts (I hope) beat the Patriots.

Thanks for the support! and thanks for this site. You've done a fantastic job, it's an amazing group of people who can both bust balls and be caring and helpful. I wish I could post more but with all these medical issues and my wonderful (cough, cough) job, I don't have much time.

Thinking of you and your husband, I hope you are having a laugh together ... that is what it is about, what you share together. On the opposite end, your boss and and the price of gasoline does not mean anything compared to your sharedmoment in that hospital room together.

Sorry to hear you're going through this. You really should be able to be with your husband in the ICU! She sounds heartless. Best wishes for a good outcome for your husband.

Do you qualify for FMLA leave? If so you may be able to take tomorrow off as FMLA leave.
