Our talent is better than our schemes. The Jets are considered one of the more talented rosters in the league. Thats the GM. And that will save the GM. Now the obvious caveat is the QB position. We have swung and missed twice in the Top 3 in 5 years. That is brutal. That usually sentences a team to 5 to 10 years of purgatory. The fact that this team played meaningful games in December is a testament to our talent. The LaFleur system works. There is a reason why much of the league runs variations of it. But we saw no growth from LaFleur. No adaptation. No development of players under him. It was his system or the highway. Guys like Mims being gatekeeped bc they didnt know all 4 WR positions. Our promising 2nd year WR requesting a trade and LaFleur insisting on playing him on the outside. LaFleur might be a good play designer but he is not a teacher. And this team needed a teacher. That is an organizational failure. So I think its fair to say he was setup to fail. But we should have added a veteran coach after year 1. The "too many voices in the room" comment we keep hearing out of this regime is just proof they let their egos get in the way. S aleh better get this OC hire right bc his ass is next. Nice guy, and in fairness to him we have seen development and improvement of players on defense under him. But he runs a very vanilla scheme and the talent prevails. Talent goes to the GM. Agreed with everything and found this a bit unfair. The jump in defense from last year to this year is not just talent. All the players were saying how guys now understood what they were supposed to be doing compared to last year where guys were lost, miscommunication etc. Having lockdown corners helps, but give him some props for basically going from last to top 5-10 in every statistical category. He has developed some players like Quincy, Huff and MC2. But ultimately we had a massive infusion of talent on defense and in my opinion that was the main catalyst for the leap. Familiarity with the scheme/system is expected to improve from year 1 to year 2. I like Saleh as a CEO, macro type of coach. He gets the big picture. From a teaching and attention to detail standpoint I think our staff is lacking. He needs to fill out his staff with those types of guys. No coach can do it all. If you remember our staff under Rex had veteran coaches those first couple of years. Guys like Bill Callahan and Westy. A young coach needs that.

He was a Jet, has a good football mind and is a teacher. I dont think there is a real chance bc he might get a head coaching job. I would wait it out and see if he doesnt. Make him an offer to be the highest paid OC. Make him turn you down. I dont like Kingsbury. Think he is an amphetamine/psylocibin junky. Always looks strung out on the sidelines. Kubiak is a veteran. Has seen everything. But has been out of league a few years.

Kubiak - holy shit how old is he? Does my mind deceive me - I feel like I played him at QB in like Madden I - circa 1986…

Greg Olson makes sense. Also has ties to Carr. Woody said today he is willing to spend for a QB if thats what JD/Saleh want.
