Those commercials serve no purpose other than making me want to hit women.
The problem with those commercials is that there's no context for anyone who doesn't know the background or the situation, like kids.
Watching football and then this commercial comes on with everyone about to cry or actually crying, nobody saying anything and just staring at the camera for 30 seconds. While it's impactful for adults and may get people thinking, it is incredibly confusing and awkward for kids.
Kid: "Dad, what is this about? Why are they showing people crying and then saying No More? Are they not supposed to cry anymore?"
Dad: "Uhhh, no, that's not what it's about. It's about people having a hard time talking about a difficult subject and showing that it's okay to start the conversation."
Kid: "Start the conversation about what? None of them are talking, they're just crying."
Dad: "I know. It's about the fact that sometimes people are victims and they have a difficult time raising their voice to speak out about something bad happening to them."
Kid: "Ummm....ooookay.Like what bad thing is happening to them?"
Dad: "Well, there are some bad people who sometimes hit their girlfriends or wives, and they may think it's normal or acceptable, and it's not."
Kid: "Oh, like how you hit mommy on her butt?"
Dad: "No, not like that. She likes that and that's okay."
Kid: "Hmmm....okay. Well the game is back on...."
Dad: "(thank Gawd)....So, you're okay now? You understand the commercial?"
Kid: "Yeah, I guess. I never knew that some guys hit women. I would have never known that was going on, so that's something new I learned from this commercial. Well...THAT, and I learned that they will cry about it unless you're hitting them on the ass which is okay."
Dad:
