As of now, the Canadian dollar is trading at 82.16 cents to the greenback. But once the American dollar is no longer the central focus of trading, and drops below the Peso, I will donate, literally, thousands of American dollars. Until then, I will consider a Canadian donation of $7.42 cents. Would you like that in personal cheque? If so, I will have to drop the donation by .12 cents to pay for the cheque. Hard times here you know. How much is that in loonies and toonies? IF cash, that would be three toonies, a loonie, one quarter, one dime, and one nickel. We do not have pennies anymore in cash transactions. Unless of course, I am writing it in a cheque. In that case, pennies are still deducted from your account.

It costs more money to produce a penny than what it is worth. So, to save money on currency, the penny was canceled. Retailers either round up or down on cash prices, but do not do that if you pay either by credit or debit. If a price is $8.12 and you use debit or credit, that is what you would pay. If it was cash, it would by $8.10
