Kanye has been trying to kiss Jay Z's ass for a long time now. I guess he's trying to suck up to his wife to get in Jay Z's good graces.
Kanye is a joke. He had a couple decent albums and the rest have sucked ass. Like his wife, he's very good at creating a vapid but profitable brand so I guess there's something positive to say about the guy. I don't know why anybody gives him the attention he so desperately craves. His last album was one of the worst hip hop albums ever released by a major label and the way he misappropriates the history of black slavery to the way the fashion houses don't want anything to do with him is not only completely dishonest but doing a huge injustice to black people everywhere. He's giving a terrible face and voice to the stereotype that black people have an incredible sense of self-entitlement and real discrimination faced by minorities is just people acting like Kanye.

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was the best album in the last 10 years and didnt win anything and I think he hates the Grammy committee for that. It's ridiculous that he doesn't appreciate Beck's work but the guy makes some of the best music.

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was the best album in the last 10 years and didnt win anything and I think he hates the Grammy committee for that. It's ridiculous that he doesn't appreciate Beck's work but the guy makes some of the best music. I've come to despise Kanye West the celebrity. I own all of Beck's albums and I was disgusted that Kanye overshadowed the moment in which he was going to have the spotlight for the first time in 20 years (even if I wasn't crazy about Morning Phase). That said, I don't believe that anyone can sincerely argue that he is not one of a handful of the most talented people currently working in the music industry. The work he did on the production side, before he became famous as a rapper, was phenomenal. It's been ages since Jay Z produced anything of quality that didn't have Kanye's fingerprints all over it. Just read what other people throughout the industry, from a variety of genres, have to say about the work he produces. Not how they feel about him, but about the music he makes. It's not all gold by any means, but the heights that he is capable of hitting.... My Kanye hate was at an all-time high before the release of MBDTF, to the point where I didn't listen to it until it got shutout at the Grammies. I gloated about that on Facebook and was summarily told off for doing so by a pair of old friends whose taste in music I hold in high regard. A few days later I sat down and gave it a listen....it was the only thing I listened to for almost a month. I was completely blown away. It's indulgent in the extreme and brilliantly so. I still remember the moment I had at the end of the 4 track run through Monster, So Appalled, Devil in a New Dress, and Runaway (during the 3 minute, distorted coda to Runaway) when it dawned on me that what I was listening to was significantly better than anything I had heard in quite some time. Anyway, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is a 75 minute masterpiece that I recommend to everyone I meet with any serious interest in music, especially the ones that say they don't like Kanye. |
