Serious question - which team has the worst QB in the division right now? Jets or the Bills?

That's TB's 5th round pick. Very early. That's a lot to give up for a JAG. They could have used the $4.5 million they're going to be spending on Cassel and brought in a FA for the same price without giving up the pick. The only pick that matters is the 5th, the other two are inconsequential b/c at that point in the 5th you could have drafted a starter. Mid 6th and next years 7th are fringe roster players.

When is "Hard Knocks" coming to Buffalo, I need to see Rex in action, his undisciplined players eating McDonalds on the field...Bye Bye ya formerly fat turd...

This is a good pick for Buffalo. Rex does not need to have a young QB at starter. He's familiar with NE's offense from the inside, he has experience working an offense with a quality RB and he probably knows how to keep time. I said it in the other thread about Rex but he needs solid vets on offense. He's not the guy you want developing a QB (or anybody on offense). The Bills can draft defense to fill holes. It isn't ideal but no team survives on FA alone and if you're drafting players with Rex as HC it needs to be defensive players. Cassel is about as good as it gets for the Bills to bring in a QB.

#Bills trading for Matt Cassel takes away a potential Brian Hoyer landing spot. Still has a strong market, with #Jets & #Texans among them 11:43am - 4 Mar 15

The conversation here gravitates to Rex....for obvious reasons, but I'm wondering just how much Greg Roman is factoring in to all of this. The Bills have traded for both a QB and a starting RB in the past 24 hours....those aren't small decisions. And, as was stated above, the Bills could have pursued some veterans in FA without having to give up any draft pick compensation. The Bills will undoubtedly be an interesting team to watch. They are either jumpstarting their team or loading it with weight to sink to the bottom of the division. Only time will tell.

Cassel isn't going to give them the same production as Orton did last year and they currently have a dogshit OL in front of McCoy with little money to spend and no 1st round pick.

It just looks like Rex is using his same playbook from the Jets. He wants a QB that won't fuck up, a RB who can consume clock, while he uses his defense to try to win a 9-6 game. I'm just wondering what role Roman is playing in all of this? Similar to the speculation that runs around Chan Gailey, the possibility of brining in his old RB in Spiller, etc. are there any dots that can be connected between Roman, McCoy, Cassel in terms of the offense they're planning to run....or does this all smack of Rex-minded offense???

Lots of Rex's fingerprints on these moves. Roman came from a team that was defense first, run heavy in San Fran so I doubt he will have any issues adapting. Rex isn't going to change who he is, we know what he will be trying to do in Buffalo.

Whens the Matt Cassell tattoo gonna arrive? Just have Cassell wear #6 and just change the color of the jersey on the tattoo, problem solved.

Says who? Rex trotted Sanchez out there to fuck up well beyond his limits of fucking up. This is basically according to a "Rex theory of team success." Except he's done nothing to actualize this theoretical vision of a team that can sustain long-term success. Rex is doubling down on all of the issues that got him fired from the Jets. Rex is going to win his way, no matter what. His chances of "learning" anything, ever, are zero. He's Buddy's spawn through and through.

He's Buddy's spawn through and through. they don't have a good qb, so they're going to re-create the 2009 jets offense, in the hopes they can eke out a wild card birth. that's all you can realistically hope for in the afc east unless you have a good qb. in a way, rex belongs in buffalo. his ground and pound works best in cold weather, not somewhere like atlanta, where his defense is destined to be torched in domes half the time. the irony would be if the jets got mariotta, and became the ball protecting, balanced team everyone always wanted under rex.

If we sign Hoyer I'll just have to sit at my computer and make idle threats about punching people in the face.
