Obviously the cost would be prohibitive compared to some of the other RB's out there but the Jets have the money to make it work. He's 27 years old, 6 months younger than Spiller and a few months older than McCoy. He doesn't have the injury history of Spiller and is way more durable. He's a better pass blocker and a better receiver out of the backfield. With Ivory in his final year of his deal I in know way trust Spiller going forward to be the lead back. Too many injuries and he's a reliability on passing downs b/c of his poor pass protection skills. He never played 3rd down for the Bills and that was all b/c he was bad at protecting the QB. The Jets have a need at HB and the money to get the best one on the market but they have been eerily silent about Murray. There has been no connection between the two sides, it's similar to how it went down with Decker last year. With the addition of Marshall the Jets will be a more attractive place for a guy like Murray. If they can sell him on a plan to strengthen the offensive line and the money is right I think he would come here. Why not go get one of the games all-around best HB's? This offense would take a major jump if they could add a starting guard and Murray to the addition of Marshall no matter who the QB is.

The question should be why not a OL like Dallas.

Is he bringing Zack Martin with him?

You should read my whole post before sounding stupid. I did read it And my question remains...is he bringing Zack Martin with him? Murray benefitted from running behind the best OL in football. He's a good RB, but he's not some kind of transcendent talent like Adrian Peterson. Why the hell would we want to pay a RB around $10 million a year? I'd much rather put that money towards making a run at someone like Revis, McCourty, Worilds, Franklin, etc.

Seattle just gave Lynch a 1 year deal worth $11 million. Not exactly identical situations, but you can bet your ass that it'll be the first thing that Murray's agent points to. Someone like Jacksonville or Oakland is going to pay Murray...and probably regret it.

With MJD retiring and McFadden on the way out, I could see that goof Reggie McKenzie paying out the ass for him.

It's telling that Dallas just signed Doug Free to a new deal and still don't seem to be too concerned about Murray leaving.

If we are going to drop a lot of coin into the rb position I would like to see if AP would get dropped. Murray has had injury concerns in the past and ran behind a fucking great o-line. Murray would help, AP would be a monster for us.

I don't care about anything other than the fact that Murray is an over 25 year old running back with a history of injuries and just carried the rock a 10000 times last year. ...and he wants $$$$
No.

In fact, I'd rather re-sign Powell and draft a RB then throw a bunch of coin at guys like Spiller and Murray.

IMO you don't pay a back who's had injury issues throughout his career for one GREAT year behind the best OL in the game when he's on the cusp of being on the wrong side of 27 (yes that's young but not for RBs unfortunately).
Not to mention the reason he had such a great year was that he ran the ball 934(!!!!) times last year. Dallas basically knew he was in the last year of his contract so they ran him into the ground. If we sign him, we will be watching his play decline and his salary bust our cap for years. Give me Spiller at half the price, let Ivory play pass downs, let Gailey scheme for them both and let's focus on the passing game.
