2015 New York Yankees Thread

Obviously still very early, but the team is certainly exceeding my expectations at the moment. Pitching has been pretty damn good, especially the bullpen, and the Bronx Bombers seem to have re-emerged, as they're hitting a lot of HR's. They've been an enjoyable team to watch through 25 games.

This thread rocks.

mccann...now maybe they talk again in the off season...but just to shed his salary i would have taken equipment...

I don't mind so much keeping McCann for now. The key is clearing space heading into the 2018 free agency. McCann's contract is big enough that they could trade him over the course of the next month and not hit any snags in waivers, if they so desire. He also hasn't been terrible. He's good with the pitching staff and they can hang onto him until they feel Gary Sanchez is ready.

I could be wrong, but I believe there is a $5 million buy-out clause in Sabathia's contract this off-season. I also believe Teixeira is a free agent at the end of this season. A-Rod may be the only remaining contract on their books next year, of those 3.

Agreed. It's nice to see Cashman be able to operate with a little more freedom. This really could work out great for them. They were able to give their farm system a jolt from being middle of the pack to probably top 2 or 3 in baseball. They'll shed several albatross contracts this year and next. Then they should be primed to make some moves in the historically good 2018 free agent class, to hopefully complement some of these prospects that will be making their way to the bigs.
Plus it should be fun to at least watch some of these kids over the last 2 months of the season.
