As I said a few weeks ago, people have an extreme hatred for Rex Ryan really need to be careful what they wish for. The NFL coaching scene is like a merry-go-round and no matter how bad coaches are, its hard to fall off of it. Every once in a while a Chip Kelly manages to hop on board, but the other nine times out of ten, it's some old shitty coach like Schwartz or Singletary that gets the job instead. I'm not saying Rex is a good coach, but the grass isn't always greener on the other side either. Kind of surprising how guys like Jim Fassel and Billick never got coaching jobs again. You'd think someone would have taken a shot on those guys.

I would not be so quick, if Idzik is truly on the hot seat then Ryan makes a god case for the pitiful season and could simply say, give me players and a QB and I will give you what I have proven I can give you again.

I think the Jets definitely go with an offensive minded coach with a knack for developing QBs. The inconsistency at the QB position has gone on for too long.

Singletary is too old school to be a HC in today's NFL. Not to mention he's not this great coach to begin with.
I'd take Robot Mangini back before I would hire Singletary...

It's over. I don't think anyone here doesn't wish him the best. I know I do. And I know he'll be back on his feet in no time but IMO, as a DC in DC. I've long ago predicted his being hired to take over for Jim Haslett who'll be gone. He's not getting a HC gig after this dumpster fire.

I find this article a bit fishy. Someone's trying desperately to drum up interest on his behalf but no one's that stupid. He'll only be brought in for the racist obligatory minority interview. Nothing more.

^ Ah yes. The ever "popular" Rooney rule. What a joke that is.

I think the Jets will bring in a big name Coach/GM right now they can't fill the seats. They need someone big like Hess did with Parcells I don't think the fan base will tolerate another rookie coach and GM.

It's starting to sound more and more (media hints and tea leaves) like Woody is very frustrated and will go the football savant role (e.g. a Polian or somebody like that) to run the show and make all the hiring decisions. These guys Glatt and Akselrad sure haven't helped him. I remember reading that Glatt asked really obscure off the wall football questions during the GM interviews and it really turned some candidates off.

Harbaugh is living off the team Singletary put together. Now it's fading off. Just like Rex's Mingini's Jets did. Singletary didn't put that team together. The main pieces were already there when he was there. He was just the linebackers coach under mike nolan (who equally sucked) until nolan got fired and they let singletary finish the season as interim head coach. They finished somewhat stong and it bought him another year. The following year was a complete disaster. I'm sure there are some funny youtube clips of his post game press conferences if you want to look them up. The guy is a moron. That team singletary took over for was stacked. Tons of pro bowlers, but never won any games. Harbaugh came in and the winning started. I thought nolan built the team up; but Trent Baalke did a Jets and grabbed 2 OL in 1RD. That's why they blew up.

I'm in agreement with the grass always greener theory, but I think sometimes organizations have to take chances in order to become great. Right now though, there's just too many chefs in the kitchen with Woody running this organization. It seems as if he asks a lot of different people (even outside the organization) for opinions on how to run this team. The guy simply lacks leadership qualities as an owner, but there are other teams with that same dilemma. The difference is that some owners know the importance of hiring the right guys to run their organization and this is what Woody has to clean up first. He needs to put the right people in place in the front office/personnel dept. and stay the hell out of the way.
