What's the deal with this pizza situation? I take it there's a million better places in NY for pizza?
Name a few.

Slim pickings for pizza in Waco. Domino's may legitimately be the best option there.
Or maybe he took one look at that cheese-covered soggy cardboard called NY pizza and decided to upgrade.

You have to watch Jon Stewart's epic rant on New York Pizza thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/0ect4f/me-lover-s-pizza-with-crazy-broadwhich was in the OP, sorry I can't embed it It gives the uninitiated an idea of the importance of pizza in NY and he lists some of the shrines to visit (starting with Lombardi's and lists some in the outer boroughs as well). Can't believe he included Arturo's with all the choices there are though. Pizza Community? SMH

I have a friend of mine that was a big shot at Papa John's and had to move to Louisville.
I picked him up at the airport and the first thing he said was "I need NY pizza right now." He said that everyone in Kentucky thinks that Papa John's is good pizza. He worked for them and thought it was horrible. I have other friends around the country that say the same thing. The shitty franchises are all the pizza they know.
And Chicago style pizza isn't bad but it doesn't even come close to NY pizza. In fact, I'm not even sure it should be called pizza.

Who was it that called it "casserole" ?

Took the GF to NYC and said... Pick ANY pizza joint and it will be the best you have had. She's from Ohio. We went to 86street between Lex and 3rd and we BOTH swore it was the best. Then went to a METS game and stopped in Woodside. same thing. Pizza was fukkin out of control good.

He should start on Staten Island and work outwards from there. He doesn't even have to start in NJ (why would you?). SI offers Lee's, Denino's, Joe & Pat's, Tony's Brick Oven, Nunzio's and Goodfellas. After that, onto Brooklyn.

Roma Pizza in Tuckahoe. We moved out to AZ 5 years ago, and there's nothing like it here. When my wife and I came back to the Northeast last year, it was the first placed we stopped, with our luggage still in the car.

What's the deal with this pizza situation? I take it there's a million better places in NY for pizza? Name a few. Off the top of my head I can think of my favorite place in NJ as a homegrown Jersey boy. Cranbury Pizza, local placed owned in a tiny little town down the NJ turnpike exit 8. Probably my favorite pizza thus far, and way better than fucking dominos. But alas here in yonder Ohio I actually find dominos to be one of my better options... a sad state of affairs. Legitimately no good classic pizza here (I say classic cause you can find some fancy pizza here that is really good, but it's not the same type you would get at a pizzeria in NJ/NY).

We should have a hampur pizza get together and invite Bryce to come grab a slice w/ us. Can't promise I'll be there because as a resident physician in the hospital I basically get no control over my free time
