I think McDougle is also on the bubble and I'm leaning towards him being cut. I don't think McDougle gets cut over Walls. Walls is like 27 and McDougle is 23. I do think they like Walls a lot, which is why they tried him out at safety, but he sucked there. Right now I think we keep both of them, until Millner comes back week two. Even then I could see us keeping both of them since Bowles loves CBs. McDougle has been bad this preseason and at the very least, Walls has been serviceable. McD plays soft, looks soft, and gets spun like a top. Maybe he's not fully recovered and the coaching staff likes his potential. We'll find out soon enough.

This is kind of like his rookie year, so I think he's still getting adjusted to practice speed vs game speed. Honestly, I don't think there are really any cuts that would shock me. Our bottom 15-20 are a toss up for me. Plus the injuries to QB and TE are making it even harder.

Did you read the first sentence? Never said he will get cut but I think he will end up getting buried on the depth chart he lose his slot role to Smith and lose his return job to Powell Did you read the thread title? It says roster surprises doesn't say anything about surprise cuts.

He's still a rookie give the kid time he's getting his first taste of nfl action at one of the hardest positions to play maybe the hardest outside of qb.

I think the injury to Amaro opens up the TE position to one of two things:
1. We essentially "count" Enunwa as a TE / H-Back and thus keep another WR 2. We actually cut down to 52 players and save a spot to pick up a TE on the waiver wire (Arizona is another team in dire need of TE help)
Those aren't big surprises but they certainly impact who gets kept at WR.

McDougle might be saved if Milliner starts the season on IR -short term. But he sure reminded me of Kyle Burnt Toast Wilson on the TD he got beat on yesterday. I think he stays, especiallly if Milliner starts on IR.
Still not sure what direction they go in on back-up OT. Qvale probably not ready yet, hurt for a guy like Ijalana to win a spot when he is not on the field. I would not be surprised if our back-up OT is still on another roster right now, about to be cut loose by tomorrow.
I also think there is a possibility that we keep Johnson over Flynn. I like the dimension he gives as a runner and he would be a weapon on 2 point conversions (which is one reason I see Tebow possibly sticking in Philly). It really is a tough decision. If Fitz were to go down, I would be more comfortable with Flynn leading the team for a couple of games until Geno is healthy,m but Johnson adds a dimension to the roster that Flynn does not.

If Flynn makes the cut, doesn't that guarantee his salary for the year? If yes, then I say he gets cut. Besides I don't want to lose a Dozier, or Shaq for a 3 week QB. That's dumb.

Which is why I would not be surprised to see them roll the dice with 3 QBs week 1 (Smith, Petty, Fitz) and add either Johnson or Flynn before week 2 if they are not comfortable with Petty as the back up.

So no chance Petty goes to the practice squad?

Yep. That's how I see it too. Another interesting thing is that I keep reading that "Flynn and Johnson are fighting to be the No. 2 QB" behind Fitz. I don't think that's what Big Mac and Bowles plan is. I suspect that Petty is their clear backup to Fitz, until Geno is ready.

Hopefully Fitz stays healthy and Geno gets back quickly so we don't have to find out.

What's hurting us now is a) possibly having to carry 4 QBs, b) Purdum (long snapper) gives us nothing else and c) Milliner's injury.
I assume we can us short term IR for Geno or Miliner. Does Richardson count as a roster spot during his suspension?

So no chance Petty goes to the practice squad? Not a chance, he would never make it through waivers.

I think we keep 9 Olineman and Aboushi isn't one of them. Besides the five starters I think we keep Qvale, Winters, Johnson, and Harrison. Before the season started I never thought Johnson would make the team and hoped either Dozier or Aboushi could be the back-up at center but it's obvious the Jets feel otherwise. Johnson has been solid all preseason and has seen a ton of playing time. My reasoning for Aboushi being cut is I think the Jets like the upside of Harrison over Aboushi and he will more than likely be inactive every week allowing him to develop. On defense I see Durell Eskridge as my sleeper making the team. Great size and he has a nose for the ball......Bye Bye Rontez Miles. Miles seems like a guy that always makes the tackle AFTER the play. I've had my fill of the Dawan Landrys of the game. Interesting... I think Qvale and Ijalana are a toss up, Ijalana was playing well before his injury. But I agree, Qvale has looked good.
I think Henderson makes the team at LB...
A week or two ago I thought McDougle over Walls, now not so sure...
I think the Jets keep 6 CB's
Revis, Cro, Skrine, Williams, Milliner, toss up on Walls/McDougle
I think I agree with keeping Eskeridge over Miles, too much raw ability and size to lose.
I think Stacy makes the team until Ridley is ready... Richardson, while he brings some explosion, goes down too easily.
I liked what I saw of Jordan Williams at DE, very athletic, long, I think he is a sleeper, at worst PS material.
Stephen Bowen cannot be cut fast enough, my grandmother can out run that guy, holy shit...
The TE position is a mess. Saxton has flashed, Lynch looks serviceable. Saxton probably goes to PS, and our #3 TE isn't on the team yet. I guess they are keeping Kelen Davis.
If the Jets keep 4 QB's until Geno heals, I think Johnson makes it over Flynn. His wheels and play making ability are impressive, throws a good ball, considering we signed him Monday, he was pretty impressive. Flynn does nothing for me. Unless a better QB is surprisingly cut, and Jets do keep 4, Johnson is the guy.
I think Kerley is in trouble Powell has pushed to make the roster
My shot at the 53
