What roaming? Teachers, staff, janitors etc. Whats your idea to protect our schools? It said volunteers....can't really see that happening. arming teachers is not realistic. The skill set for teaching is the exact opposite of a security guard. Front door security works fine if done right. So maybe 30 teachers and staff in a grade school. Maybe no one volunteers, maybe 2 or 3 do. Have the NRA give them a 12 hour course and there good to go.

No way do they want that added into their job description. I'd prefer 2-3 qualified security guards.

unfortunately wouldn't have stopped the charleston shooter or oregon shooter. how about this- liberals/democrats continue to cry for expanded background check so in exchange for expanding background checks: 1) any crime committed with an illegal gun carries a minimum five year prison sentence 2) since you are expanding background checks and potentially infringing on the constitutional rights of Americans at the same time institute drug testing for all welfare recipients. sounds like a fair trade off. Didn't say it would have stopped anyone. Google info about welfare recipients being tested and you'll see its a huge waste of money. The numbers are miniscule compared to the cost of testing. Also, I don't thing "trade-off's are a way to legislate. Each issue is independent. i never claimed you said anything- just pointing out how the regulations democrats want would not have stopped them. how would anyone be able to claim the numbers are miniscule for drug testing welfare recipients when its barely done? and where is the data that background checks would reduce gun crime? would all of obama's homeys in chitown be subject to background checks and controls before they start knocking off brutha's??

I won't even get into that because I can't see that happening nationwide. Anecdotally, up here I'd guess 85 percent of teachers are liberal women who want no part in that. maybe in other parts of the country it's doable.

Hey, lets not get off on the wrong foot, friend. By saying my lazy typing would " fit right in with the brutha's" seems like some kind of borderline offensive remark which I'm sure you don't mean. Lets stay on subject and not resort to that stuff? OK? We can discuss issues without denegrating into the usual internet silliness. Welcome!

Heard about this skit on the news last night.
Can't say I am offended or amused much, the news guy made it sound more controversial then I found it.

I say every american should be required to get a gun license and to get a license your family physician must verify that you do not suffer from mental illness. If you do suffer from mental illness, then a psychiatrist needs to verify that you are not violent. And then we make it mandatory that you have a valid gun license in order to vote.

Just like $15/hr minimum wage let states that want to try it prove it out. If it works others will follow.

I just feel the need to say... They all though Einstein was insane... but I know what you're getting at. Some people are just not right in the head. and that should be avoided. But that seems like it would be best handled on a small local level if you will. people need to be aware of their surroundings and neighbors best they can. Not a bad idea to make it semi mandatory for training/license tho. People should know how to protect not just themselves as much as others... Thats the thing. If you find yourself in a spot where you need to protect yourself it's probably a bit too late... But things could be prevented if you didn't just have a situation where you have a wolf entering an unguarded den of prey. Better chance of preventing shit from getting worse is what I'm getting at. And that shit is for real.
