How is Collins going to set up the pitching rotation? Harvey looks set for Game 1. No way deGrom can go Game 2. It's either Syndergaard on short rest (but after short work) or Matz, right? I'd guess Matz but does that mean we pitch him twice in this series if it goes long and we may only see deGrom and/or Syndergaard once? I'd say Thor for game two - he only pitched an inning last night and is on more than normal rest beyond that, not sure how much that inning factors in. Or go Matz game two and save deGrom and Noah for Wrigley. Lots of good options. Yeah, I'm looking at the schedule now. Matz really had only one bad inning. I might want to put him out there for Game 2 (against Arrieta). We could go with deGrom in Game 3 which would set him up for 5 days rest and a Game 7 start if necessary.

lol Bottom of the 9th...Mets up by 1 run and trying to close out the game. Up comes Utley. My 10 year old starts screaming, "HIT HIM!!! Bean him right in the nuts!!!" My wife almost falls off the chair. He's never talked like that around the house but it just burst out of him. I had to calmly explain that winning the game was more important than getting revenge...blah blah blah....the Mets are the more mature team....they'll get their revenge just by winning, etc. So the Mets finally win! We're all clapping and cheering, the boy goes, "They should go fight Utley now, right Dad?" Boy howdy...I'm raising a good one here! lol it's spreading

By the way, here's the new addition to the JS23 household....a 3 yr old rescue mini Dachshund. Yes, he also likes the Jets...but his jersey is in the wash.

Congrats and good luck with the new member of the family! I work with someone who has 3 mini dachshunds and a pit bull (the pit was a rescue dog, maybe the dach's, too). I hear them barking in the background when we're on Skype. We both work from home. Go METS! Beat the Cubbies!

Right, and the Mets group looks to be even more dominant. You guys have to be beyond excited when thinking of the long term possibilities. I always toot against the mets unless they're playing Boston but i do really enjoy watching all these guys pitch. All I care about is winning this fucking game tonight right now I hear ya. Great win Mutts fans. I remember wins like that.....

My rotation:
Harvey Thor deGrom Matz Harvey Thor deGrom
I wish Matz could pitch at home, but it's not feasible. We definitely need Thor and deGrom twice if needed. The only problem I see with this rotation is WHAT IF we are down 3 games to none? Does Matz pitch with that kind of pressure?

Congratulations Mets fans! That was a real nail biter last night. You will be happy to know that this is killing Phillies fans. I finally got the backstory on the Utley Mets/Phillies rivalry (and Rollins too from my Phillies fan sister) and how they were both Mets killers while on the Phillies. They were thrilled when Utley broke Tejada's leg, living vicariously through the Dodgers. LIstening to Philly sports radio on my way back to NY on Wed AM, they had a modified rendition of "New York New York" to be "New York You Suck". The Mets are in the playoffs, they are totally out of it, and This is really sticking in their craws. Winning was the best revenge!

Scum bag Philthy fans. That being said, I've met/known some very fine Philly fans and I enjoy the cheesesteaks when I'm there. Oh and for several years, everyone killed the Mets, not just Utley and Rollins, so they aren't anything special.

Second rate city, with second rate teams, and third rate fans, always jealous of New York. Phillies/Eagles/Flyers have oh so many championships between them. As Bill Burr said, their most famous celebrated athlete is a FICTIONAL CHARACTER (Rocky).

The only problem I see with this rotation is WHAT IF we are down 3 games to none? Does Matz pitch with that kind of pressure? Yes. Down 3-0....at that point 1 win is awesome but you still need 4. I wouldn't shuffle the whole thing just to rescue a single win. And, imagine he wins....when you're down 3-1 wouldn't you want Harvey, Thor, deGrom left to go at close to normal/full rest? There's no easy answer by the way. Let's just hope we don't get in that situation. Additionally, if we can win Game 1 I think we get some increased flexibility knowing we'd be guaranteed to get back to our best starters by reaching a Game 5.
