Mets struckout 15 times. They had the same number of hits as the Royals but half the walks. It's obvious, they have to put the ball in play.
FWIW, in 1969, Tom Seaver gave up a HR in the 1st inning to Don Buford and the Orioles won. The Mets then won the next four. Hopefully history will repeat itself.

Stealing game 1 last night would have really made life easy on the Mets. It would have set them up for a really solid chance to win the series. I still like the fact that the Royals will have to get 3 more wins against deGrom, Syndergaard, Matz, (and potentially) Harvey, deGrom and Syndergaard again. As I've said before, if the Royals can do that then they deserve to win....but again, last night's game was there for the taking. It was a missed opportunity and you can't miss those when they're sitting right there.

Look for me tonite...I'll be wearing the Mets cap! Sneak into the locker room and hide Cuddyer's cleats please. He is absolutely worthless. If the opining line-up does not have Lagares in the OF and Conforto at DH, Terry Collins should be fired on the spot. It's the only logical line-up with a DH. BTW, how much weaker is the Royals line-up without Morales and the P hitting? KC loses their .290, 22 homer, 106 RBI #5 hitting DH, we lose essentially nothing since our P's hit almost as well as the extra player we get by having DH.

I hate to say that about a home town boy (Chesapeake, VA, just like David Wright), but it is what it is.

Tonight is another big opportunity. Heading back to NY at 1-1 would be huge with Syndergaard going in Game 3.

What a game last night. Couldn't turn it off and I'm paying for it today. Pressure on both teams tonight I think.
