I have no problem with stop and frisk... I do have a problem with lying thug cops tho, who should face the harshest penalties the law allows. Like absurdly off balance penalties for their crimes. Make them really think twice, and then think again.

Oh, and I'm all for shooting punk thug killers and rapists dead in the streets and hanging them immediately post trial if guilt is obvious. I would start by culling the herd of the truly guilty in prisons. Put them to sleep. I mean the real fucked up sickos who have no remorse. And the fuckers like Hernandez who think it's fun. He should be hanging right now in Boston IMO. Pats* jersey and all.

Make them really think twice, and then think again. no one is supporting the very few law enforcement that are bad apples except maybe law enforcement unions. bad cops are the exception to the rule, despite obama and his party wanting to make it seem like the norm. the irony is they scream "racism!!" when it comes to stop and frisk, with the backing of liberals, but who does stop and frisk help the most? the suburbanite? the old white rich guy? or a black citizen living in the inner city.

Rudy hit the nail on the head this morning; at its base level, S&F will catch bad guys carrying guns. The more you do that, the less inclined the baddies are to carry them in the first place. It's mind-numbingly stupid that DeBlasio et al didn't realize that bad guys would say "shit, cops can't stop and frisk me anymore? Time to break out that Glock."

I think they truly bought into the whole 'this is persecutory' rhetoric that was being put forth and therefore felt they were going to help the minority community take some sort of next step into a better world. Buncha boobs, worst of them being Bratton since he is clearly pimping himself at this point considering he was on the ground level of stop & frisk during his first bid as PC.

I like to think there are plenty of single mothers in those poor neighborhoods who want the cops to have all the tools necessary to weed out the bad actors that essentially prey on their children whether it be by selling them drugs, recruiting them to gangs or making them the victim of a crime.
There is no perfect outcome. Innocent people will be stopped. But I think that is worth getting guys like Tyrone Howard off the street.
And that diverson program is another thing that sounds good in theory but doesnt work in practice. It is being abused to keep criminals on the street. Gives guys like Howard the ability to make themselves look like victims of our drug laws when in fact they are the predators.

classy. isn't tarentino an obama supporter? Protesters flip off NYPD days after cop slay
Just four days after the on-duty murder of a hero NYPD street cop, a rally in Washington Square Park against “police terror” devolved Saturday into a raucous, law-enforcement gripe-fest. “No racist police!” some among the crowd of 300 protesters for the “Rise Up October” chanted, before the rally spilled out of the park and up Fifth Avenue to Times Square. The NYPD arrested 11 protesters, charging most of them with disorderly conduct, obstructing vehicular traffic and failing to disperse. At least one was charged with resisting arrest. Director Quentin Tarantino fired up the crowd by complaining that cops are too often “murderers.” “When I see murders, I do not stand by . . . I have to call a murder a murder and I have to call the murderers the murderers,” the “Pulp Fiction” auteur blathered to a cheering rally-goers. As he spoke, Tarantino held up a blown-up photograph of Justin Smith, an Oklahoma man killed in police custody in 1999 after spitting on cops. His words came just four days after the Tuesday-night murder of NYPD Officer Randolph Holder, the brave cop who was shot in the forehead while pursuing a gunman on foot through the streets of East Harlem. Asked about the timing of the rally, Tarantino told The Post, “It’s like this: It’s unfortunate timing, but we’ve flown in all these families to go and tell their stories . . . That cop that was killed, that’s a tragedy, too.”

Perfect example of not understanding that just because you have the right to do something doesn't mean you SHOULD do it. It wasn't just classless, it showed a callous disregard for the death of PO Holder and what he stood for. Trying to explain it away as "unfortunate timing" should haunt Tarantino for the rest of his life if there's any justice in the world. Just awful.

Rudy hit the nail on the head this morning; at its base level, S&F will catch bad guys carrying guns. The more you do that, the less inclined the baddies are to carry them in the first place. Thing is, as you know JW, SQF isnt a "practice" but a provision of the NYS CPL (Criminal Procedure Law), section 140:50 that prescribes the rights of Police Officers when they observe someone they believe to be armed with a Deadly Weapon. It doesnt give every cop in NYC the wholesale right to search everyone from one end of the block to the other in the hopes of coming up with a gun...and that is precisely what it had become under Ray Kelly. Being the narrow-minded narcissist he was was, he was terrified of Crime numbers creeping up on his watch. If you know his history, his first time around, he was basically a useless boob under Dinkins, much like Bratton has now become under Deblassio. Now, trying to make people forget that tenure, and foolishly trying to erase Bratton and Guiliani's considerable accomplishments from the record books, he didnt know when to take his foot off the gas and allowed well-meaning bozzes and cops with no concept of 140:50 to run roughshod in minority neighborhoods. Towards the end, any guns they actually came up with (which were few and far between because the mutts knew not to carry them) ended up getting sh8t-canned in the Complaint room by D.A.s who knew they case wouldnt withstand legal scrutiny. What to do now? Write summon's like lunatics trying to generate numbers for the COMPSTAT monster... This is where stat-fudging, civil rights violations etc. all came into play...and here we are. What we need is the eagle-eyed cops of the past who could truly spot guns...and then articulate the seizures in court...cops who knew how to talk to people in the street, especially if they stopped someone and came up empty on a search. Thing is, as the FBI Director bravely surmised, those days are over. Cops have everything to lose and nothing to gain by being pro-active. We are burying a cop tomorrow here in NYC who was pro-active...and he was going to get paid the same as a cop typing reports for the Precinct Commander.
