Well that's as anti-climatic as a rookie season can get....
When are they going to start listening to me?? Guess Treadwell, Coleman and Doctson are back on the radar... too bad Mike Williams is returning.

Feel bad for the kid but this has little effect on us in the short term. Might even be a addition by subtraction bc it seemed like we were trying too hard to get him involved. I like what we have going with Marshall and Decker. Bilal is becoming a nice threat out of the backfield. Now if we could only get something out of the TE position.

Marshall and Decker are fantastic combo to have as your 1-A and 1-B... but big picture wise, we gotta get the fuck on developing guys behind them. Marshall may only have 1-2 productive seasons left before he goes Roddy White on us. Thus far Smith was the only guy we had to develop as a next-gen weapon. We have no TEs, No RBs and No WRs in the docket. Not good.

Agree that the impact on 2015 is limited, but this will impact him in 2016 as well. Missed TC this season and will probably miss camp and start of next season. This really sets back any chance that he could develop into a serviceable deep threat.
Feel bad for the kid.

Sucks. Busted his ribs thru his lung first day of TC, battled back to try to play in season, missing all of TC and preseason, and you could see in his body language it fucked with him. And now this. That pick isn't gonna work out IMO. Not exactly saying he needs to be cut, but we need to go after a different deep threat THIS draft. OL, TE and LB are huge needs tho so where and when you try to grab the guy... i dunno. He's not the answer they were seeking tho. And he never will be so I sure hope they don't waste time.

I'm reminded again of how badly i wish we would have taken DGB... Really think Marshall would have been the perfect mentor for him to work behind - for both on and off the field reasons

Wish him all the best in recovery, still likely means we have to draft another receiver fairly early on in a draft where we need to focus heavily on OL, among other core needs

Absolutely CANNOT make the mistake of trying to count on Devin Smith to become the weapon they were hoping. His TC injury damaged him IMO. Mentally. He had poor body language just in that last game. I said something about it and then not long later the knee injury. Maybe he works out for depth somewhere but we cannot afford to count on him. They need to pretend there is no deep threat again just like last year.

Assuming Mac's new personnel/scouting department responsible for management roster talent -- aren't complete airheads... then yes. I think they'll take that approach. going into 2016, Kerley will be gone, Thompkins is a capital JAG, and Enunwa is apparently an H-back now... We 1000% need to continue accruing WR talent

Feel bad for Smith. He has been working hard after starting the season behind the 8 ball due to his rib injury. Now this knee injury will put him in a similar situation at the start of his 2nd year. A real set-back for his career. I wish him all the best for a speedy, complete recovery.
Also, we now have 10 players on IR.

Todd Bowles said it's too bad this happened and he felt like the game was finally starting to come together for him.

Today Bowles named these two guys and added Kerley playing depended on whether he was hurt or not. When did he get hurt? Also as far as Smith being a poor fit for the Gailey's office, wasn't Gailey already the OC at the time? and wouldn't they have known what his offense would be? Kind of strange to select a deep threat with no route running experience in that case.

List of free agent wide receivers from Spotrac. I assume you can quickly take Jeffery off the list - there's no way Chicago won't either franchise tag him or extend his contract. Apart from Jeffery, it's real slim pickings. www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/wide-receiver/Sucks for Smith that he's done for at least 12 months, but I doubt it really affects how Maccagnan approaches the off-season.
