I like most of what you have here my only utter wtf? moment is this:
"Jets trade DL Sheldon Richardson for a late 2nd round pick"

He'll also be facing an additional 10 game suspension if he fails another piss test. No way someone is giving up a 1st rounder for him.

That's fine and good if you want to move him but I would never in the whole world move him for a late 2nd alone. I would keep him and all the baggage for that price. If you are going to go that route then add some other later picks to make it more realistic. If you went 2,3,4 or something like that it might be more palatable.

I feel the same way about the Richardson trade -- I don't like off-season plans that include something as speculative as that. I realize its exercise in speculation in and of itself, but trading a player like that is way beyond something we have complete control of. You need a mating partner, etc.
As for the rest--
Draft: I can get behind that. You're reaching on Green, but I wouldn't complain. Boyd, Wentz & Green? Hell yea.
Your FA/salary mngt: ...I'm not where you're getting all the bread, bro. Snacks, Miller & Glenn? I don't much about the specifics on Glenn, but I know Miller is looking for $$ plus the right situation, and Harrison is going to get paid WAY more by someone not named Jets. You guys can kiss him goodbye - and that's a good thing. I like Miller though.. just don't see it happening here. I'm guessing he ends up in TEN.

I didn't realize this is the page where the board was discussing these topics, thanks Paradis!

Regarding FA, I don't think we are going to have enough money to do what you are proposing.
Regarding trading Sheldon, I'd rather trade Mo. He is going to get more in return (even after we tag him) than Sheldon because of Sheldon's off the field stuff. We get to keep Sheldon at a relatively cheap price for another 2 years, which gives us time to move on from the contracts for Brick, Mangold, Harris, Revis, and Marshall.
Regarding the draft, I'm happy with Wentz at 20, especially if he gets to sit behind Fitz for a year or two. I can get behind Boyd if he is the BPA, but I'm not a big Jenkins fan, I don't think he will offer much off the edge as a pass rusher.

Another thing, I think Cam Sutton said he is going back to Tennessee.

LB needs at top to bottom overhaul. I hope Mauldin can become a 3 down guy at one OLB spot, obviously Harris stays, so we need another OLB and ILB for me.
We need to get faster across the board, not enough game changing impact plays from this unit for far to long.

Another thing, I think Cam Sutton said he is going back to Tennessee. He is returning for his Senior season. no NFL for him yet.

It helps that Williams had a great rookie season, and will likely end up being the best of the 3 of them. Mo is right to expect a big pay day. He is deserving of it. However, a salary cap constraining contract for a DE when we have 2 other younger special DE's on the roster would be a mistake. The Jets should seek a first round pick for Mo. At the very least they should put his name out there and see what they can get. Signing him to a deal that is "fair" for a player of his ability makes zero sense.

Good thread. Some thoughts of my own...
Trade down from 20 to the 26-28 range if there's a willing partner, pick up a couple of extra picks.
I wouldn't accept anything less than a 1st & 3rd for Mo.
I keep Sheldon.
Even though I like some of the top rated QBs, I'm ok with Fitz/Geno/Bryce for another year. I'd strengthen the team as much as possible around them. Petty's the key. Do MacBo think he's future starting material?
I love the idea of adding OLB Ware for a couple of years while we develop our own.
Let Ivory go, keep Bilal, signing Miller is ok by me. Draft one too.

I've been trying to ID a trade partner for Mo. Has to be a team with a 3-4 base D. Plus, no team will likely trade a top 10 pick. So, Chargers, Browns, Ravens, and Niners are out. Colts? The 18th and 82nd pick for Mo? If possible, I'd rather send him to the NFC so we don't risk seeing him in the conference playoffs. Cardinals? They have no glaring needs, but Mo is much better and 6 years younger than Frostee Rucker. That would be the 29th and 93rd.

They play a 3-4. They have a need at DE and they have the cap space: overthecap.com/salary-cap-space
