The Petty love makes me roll my eyes. Why don't we just start a tree branch. It's the hope. After seeing what Brady did everyone thinks every quarterback who hasnt been given a shot could be the one. Clemens, Ratliff, McElroy, Matt simms, Petty, literally every quarterback. If they don't play they could be the one... Sometimes there's a reason these guys don't play, because the coaches see them everyday. Petty is different, he simply wasn't ready. If he doesn't play this year, you know what you have in him.. Just another Ratliff who could become a clemens (solid backup quarterback) Pretty much I like Petty, but to count on him as anything more than a potential longterm backup is fucking fools gold. Go ahead and rattle off some of the former 4th round picks who turned out to be anything more than longterm backups at best...go ahead, I'll wait...

If you could get him in, give a vet minimum contract laden with incentive clauses...who knows? He's a hell of an athlete and we're about due to catch lightnening in a bottle.

i mistakenly selected petty, i meant to take geno. i know genot has been less than stellar and only bowles or people inside the jets can actually say what is going on. but genot did have the position sown up until he was slugged. the one big strike against him is the raider game when he came in and just didn't look very sharp. they were still in the game at the end and genot showed little sense of urgency in calling or executing the plays. but consider too reaching for a guy like rg3. rg3 had tons of talent until he got injured. it's somewhat easy to get your body healed but lots more to get the mind. he needs to make a huge commitment to play qb and it sounds like he's not ready. and if the jets are willing to take a chance on a guy whose head isn't in the game then why not genot.

I see your point. Although I'm on record saying he's terrible, last year could have been humbling. This would be his final attempt at reviving his career. I was also on record saying last year, I wanted geno to lose his job due to his play, not because of a injury. Let's see what happens
