If rights are the legitimate jurisdiction of govt., then your critique of such rights being granted to "own" another human, would stand. True natural rights don't have that same affliction. You like to go on about how someone against taxes offers nothing to society. You don't think the goods and services I have brought to market offer any benefit to society as a whole? I have benefitted a great many in society. And yes, I drive the roads and bridges and such. I also pay fuel taxes when I buy gas, and multiple taxes that are built into the cost of that gas+ the taxes on the car, and the license etc. How much of the federal budget is spent on infrastructure anyways? What are they up to now, as far as taxing the GDP? 42% last I recall. That seems like fair exchange. You know a road, some bridges for 42% of all fucking productivity. I guess any tax rate is fine for someone who thinks the govt. owns the people. I just have the whole situation backwards from that. If you have no problem with an out-of-control central govt squeezing you for every last dime while spending the majority of your tax money paying service to debt, have a blast writing the check. I won't lift a finger to stop you. And just because this two party system has rigged the game so that there is no other trajectory even possible, doesn't imbue me with any angst or guilt or what-have-you that I'm not paying my fair share. Telling a protection racket to go fuck themselves isn't an immoral act in my book. |

That is the very definition of immoral, heartless and grotesquely selfish. It's a crime against humanity the way we run Healthcare in the United States, and no amount of comforting self-rationalization will make it so. You wish to prattle on about things that offend you, well now it's my turn. The American system would have led directly to my mothers premature death. And you'd have cheered it, because your ever so fucking precious tax money wouldn't have helped her. Not 100 years ago, like your complaints about Lenin or the Holodomor, but today, by people just like you. Today we allow people to die of easly treatable conditions because we refuse to provide basic fucking healthcare in this, the most wealthy and affluent country in the world. No, we whine about "death panels" as if for-profit insurance isn't 1,000 times worse about such things. We whine about our "rights" being infringed over an extra 0.005% tax burden for the average Joe and more for those who have milked this society for all it's worth. Because middle class fuckers like me or you care so bloody much about what tax rate a guy making 100,000,000 a year pays? WTF? Selfish, self-important complainers, frankly. Evil ones at that, who value their own $1.50 a paycheck over the lives of people. Vastly exaggerating the burden on themselves and rejecting the good that is done. "Protection Racket", as if you're so very put upon. My fucking ass. You have no idea what it's like to be truly put upon, how history has shown people to be put upon, and your paltry real tax rate of 30% max is a tiny drop in an ocean of costs society must bear to remain a civilized comfortable safe and well treated society. Of course rights come from gubbmint. Cavemen didn't sit around the fire chatting about their rights. "Rights" never existed before government did. Were all just a few steps removed from being wild animals anyway. Moneys and tigers don't have any rights. That 2% makes all the difference. wHen that mountain lions kills the hiker, that 2% don't matter much, cuz that lion doesn't know he has "rights" |
