DCat is up next and he hasn't been online since yesterday. If anyone knows how to contact him, please do. He is pretty active on JetNation. As soon as this pick is done, I will PM him there.

5 minutes left, Jerrah. Either finalize your trade or make a pick.

Best player in an otherwise unspectacular draft at a position of need for the boys. Was hoping someone would offer something good otherwise I couldn't pass him up.

I liked that you passed on Bosa, I think he might fall a bit come draft day.

Little bit surprised by the Jacksonville pick. Really thought they would go defense. But I was glad to see Buckner still on the board for me. Think he will fit really well along their DL. Thought about him or Bosa at this spot, but I think Buckner is a better fit in the Ravens 3-4 front, and two of their starters will be FA after 2016, so I went with Buckner.

Sorry I wasn't around at 9pm last night.
Reasoning behind the Jaguars pick is simple. I had Bosa as the BPA. But I don't think he would be a great fit and I think he is a bit of a head case, plus the Jacksonville Idzguars have Odrick and Malik Jackson signed for years on the left side of the DL and drafted Fowler at #3 last year for the right side. Bosa or Fowler at DT or rotational? I don't think so. I was really hoping for some trade offers, but my pick came up at night and I had no time to field/send offers this morning. So I let Bosa drop to some other fortunate team (same for Goff).
After Bosa, I had 4 players ranked pretty much near each other, including Goff, Elliot, Hargreaves and Stanley. My personal fav among them is Elliot (who I think will be a great pick between #5-10), but since the Jags drafted Yeldon last season and signed Ivory to a 4 year deal, I just didn't see the fit there either. So based somewhat on need, I'm going with the OT, Stanley, who could just be stud material.
Jacksonville has serious problems at OT. Joeckel has been a major bust at LT having been drafted by Jax overall #2 4 years ago. He is a UFA after the 2016 season and Jax is going to let him go. Joeckel is so much of a bust, that Jax signed Pittsburgh's Beachum (coming off ACL) to compete with Joeckel for LT this season. I looked at the details of the Beachum contract and saw that his 5 year, $45,000,000 deal has only $1,500,000 guaranteed, and that after 2016, they can let him go with ZERO dead money. Or they can keep him around at about $8 million per year for the next few years with $13 million in guaranteed money. But if Beachum doesn't perform well this year, Jax would have to go back to square one at LT yet again in 2017, and picking Stanley here could be the long term solution to their LT nightmare. Basically, Beachum can be used as a one year stop gap at LT in place of Joeckel or for depth at only $4,375,000 for 2016. Seems like the perfect time to draft a potential stud to fix this immense position of need. I think the Beachum contract was designed so that Jax has a lot of flexibility to fill LT without losing a ton of money if they want to let Beachum go, or if Beachum is just not that good anymore. Per Jason, at OTC:
So Stanley is the pick. 4, might seem early, but the mixture of talent and need is just too compelling not to.

Heading into the draft, I was pretty sure I'd go defense, thinking that Myles Jack could fall to Jax. Had he been there, he would have been the pick in a nanosecond. But Indiana Jet took him for the Cowgirls right before me. I combed through the defense. Left side of the D-line is solid with Malik and Odrick signed for many years. Jax could use a DT along side of Fowler on the right side and I don't think they'd pick another DE just yet for that side. I felt that none of the available DTs were worthy of the #5 pick. Same was true for LB, which is another area of need in their 4-3 defense, with Poszluszny getting old at ILB and not much depth at OLB. Strongly considered Hargreaves at CB. Hargreaves looks like a great prospect for CB, but just felt Stanley at OT was the better talent. Plus, Idsuck just gave Prince Amukamara a big contract and have Davon House at a reasonable contract for the next few years. Looking at Jax's roster, I don't get why they are such a sucky team. They have a lot of talent and should be better than a .500 team.

I think Krappernick may still get traded to the Broncos. That's why 49ers pick Goff.

I don;t think he's actually perceived as any kind if "special talent"... good, yes. Generational, no.

Curious as to what others think of the Bosa-Buckner choice. I went with Buckner at 6 for Baltimore -- I think he is a better fit in the 3-4 than Bosa. Not sure Bosa has the speed you want coming off the edge in the 3-4. I think Bosa is a better pick as a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB.

Today's NFL isn't as scheme-universal for DEs as it was 15 years ago -

Mangold is on the clock. Has not been on the site in almost 24 hours. I also sent him a PM on JetNation -- hopefully he gets online soon.
In order to keep things moving & so we don't take 2 to 3 hours for each pick, please remember to PM your choices to me, RobR and JCappy so we can make your pick for you if you are not going to be online for a while and your pick is coming up. Lets get things moving.
Thanks
