1st round: QB Paxton Lynch - Memphis
If the Jets stay at #20, I think there's a solid chance Lynch will still be there. And IMO, you can't pass up his upside in favor of the 4th/5th rated OL or passrusher on the board. Kid has immense talent with a 6'7 250 frame and I personally think he's picture perfect for Gailey's offense. Lots of shotgun formations and 4 WR sets designed to get the ball out of his hands quickly. Sit him on the bench for a year behind someone like Fitz or Hoyer and then have an open competition between him and Petty in 2017.
2nd round: OLB Jordan Jenkins - Georgia
Not the speed demon we all crave but a very instinctive player who is always around the ball. I personally like him a helluva lot more than his teammate Leonard Floyd even though he's a lesser athlete. Can set the edge well and push the pocket. Already heavily experienced standing up. Day 1 starter opposite Mauldin and gives us a potentially very good set of young OLB's.
3rd round: TE Nick Vannett - Ohio State
Good inline blocker who was used as both a traditional TE and split out wide at OSU. Good intermediate receiver with soft hands. Jets have reportedly been very interested in him. I personally like him more than any TE not named Henry. Anyway, Vannett & Amaro >>> Cumberland & Davis.
4th round: ILB Jaylon Smith - Notre Dame
Because if he's still there at this point...why the fuck not? If he even comes back literally half the player he was pre-injury, it's worth the risk. And if he somehow makes a full recovery, you have a potential all-pro on your hands. Stash him on IR for a year and see what happens from there.
5th round: P Tom Hackett - Utah
Arguably the best punter in this draft class and may end up going higher than this. Fantastic directional kicker with definite above average leg. Jets have also been reportedly interested.
7th round: WR Marquez North - Tennessee
Highly regarded HS recruit who never put it all together at Tennessee. Sure hands and a solid route runner, although doesn't have long range speed. Good prospect to push a guy like Thompkins or stash on the practice squad for a year.

I'm not that high on getting a TE that early to be honest but wouldn't throw a fit.
I agree that Jenkins is a pretty good player but I am so sick of the set the edge, hold the fort olbs; that can't rush the passer that I can't endorse that pick. I'm willing to gamble on one of these less sure thing olbs that can rush the passer. I like the last three picks quite a bit and I agree about going QB in the 1st.

You know I love the 7th rounder. Don't sleep on his speed because he ran in the 4.4's at the combine weighing in at 223.

I would be definitely thrilled with this draft, mostly cause of pick 1 (cause that's all that really matters to me at this point).... but fleshing it out a little, North gives us some depth intrigue, Jaylon of course is a "hold your breath and hope for the best" pick... although Ifo getting released this past week brings about a dose of reality about major knee injuries.
I've been digging into the TEs HARD.... and i'm convinced there's better than advertised depth in this draft, however Vannett is not part of the reason why... more on that later.

There's 1 1st year contributor on the draft and it's the punter .

Good prospect to push a guy like Thompkins or stash on the practice squad for a year. Not bad at all. Love the lynch pick hope he is there now that he blew up his pro day. I like Jenkins a lot too but we need a guy that can get to the QB I think Fackrell might be a better all around LB plus he is 6'5" and he can bat a lot of balls. Vanett is solid, taking a risk on Smith here is a great move if he is there, I have an issue taking a punter in the 5th I know Hackett is good but I can get a pizza delivery guy that can punt better than quigley. North is a good project just hope he can play special teams because we need some bodies there especially a returner. Another issue is no O line need to draft at least one. Grade: B
