Wanted to start a separate discussion in the draft forum for those draftniks amongst us. What does this mean for the Jets at 20 and their chances of getting Lynch at 20 without moving up?
My initial thoughts:
1) Rams gotta be going for a QB - you don't sell the farm for an offensive tackle or a CB/FS right? So...which one? Goff or Wentz.
2) If its Wentz, I think it increases the chance that the Browns will not go QB...if that's the case...then maybe it has no effect on the Jets and Lynch at 20, since you're just subbing the Rams for the Browns in taking Wentz in the top 5.
3) If its Goff, I think it decreases the chance of the Jets getting Lynch. If the Rams go Goff, the Browns will take Wentz. At that point, with both QBs off the board at 1 & 2, it increases the chance that the 49ers take Lynch. If fact, it might make it easier for a team like the 49ers to trade back a few spots and still get Lynch.
Just some initial thoughts....discuss?

My opinion is the rams want Wentz. I agree, you don't trade all those picks for anything but a QB. The rams have worked out the top QB's so it could be either of those, but I think its Wentz.
I think the rams moving up to one also means that we are drafting BPA and I don't think either Goff, Wentz, Lynch will be there at 20.
I hope I am wrong I am at the point where I want the Jets to start trying to get a legitimate starting QB. We aren't going to get one hoping one falls to us. That position is too important to the success of the team.
I have some faith in Mac, lets see what he does. I think Spence at 20 is what I want now.

The beauty of this, and the torture of it as well is no one really knows who the Rams favor, despite some media types speculating. I think Cleveland will try their best to trade their pick with visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads. Unless the Rams declare and sign their guy before the draft no possible trade will be made before the draft floor.
Reports were that a number of teams were trying to trade up to #1 so I think there is an actual good chance someone will trade up to #2 if the Qb they want is the guy that is left.
I think that 'Qb whisperer' type coaches actually have a less chance of using early picks on QB's than otherwise. Jackson helped make Andy Dalton a 2nd rounder a quality reg season QB.

It means the Jets are fucked if they want one of the top 3 QB's. Wentz goes one, Goff goes 2, and then a giant abyss until the Jets pick.

I'm hearing both CLE and LA prefer Goff
...in which case it makes CLE's pick a total wildcard now. Anyway you slice it, if we want Lynch we'll move up. Or not. Who knows with the Browns.
Interestingly enough, today is Lynch's visit with NY... So maybe that affair will catch fire.

I'm at work so I can get too nifty with posting links, but Mike Silver and Matt Miller are saying Goff
I think as jet stream pointed out, Wentz makes more sense scheme and identity wise

Half the experts say wentz, half say goff. I think it is Wentz, I like both but Wentz is more of the total package if you ask me. Some of the media as usual will latch onto the U of Cal and the LA Rams angle but the Rams will take which Qb they like the best.

Then again, its draft season, you cant believe anything that is reported by anyone, no matter how credible they are.

I flip flop myself, even... Some days I remember why I used to like Goff so much, and others I'm like no way would I gamble on him. Not in the top 10 with Wentz or Lynch available.

There really is no reason for the Rams to hide their pick, other then the element of keeping it a surprise. It's not like they're going to trade the pick they just traded for and with the fixed rookie salary structure, there's no real reason for them to play one QB against the other in hopes of negotiating a better deal. I think the biggest question is, which QB do the Browns really like and if that QB is taken by the Rams do they have a high enough grade on QB2 to take him second overall.

Reading Titans still looking for deals...
Jets #20 & Mo
Titans #15 and 2 of the second rounders? Doubt they'll bite but one can dream.

I forgot where I read it, but Adam Schefter stated that he doesn't think the Browns are going QB at 2. Schefter is as connected as anyone, so that is a definite possibility. If the Browns pass on a QB, then I think one of the top 3 (maybe even Wentz) will be there for the Jets. Also, I think with the Titans trading down to 15 that there may be some discussion with the Jets regarding Mo.

If you believe the tea leaves, then i'd say if Goff is gone, CLE takes Jack/Ramsey.. which means things get really fucking interesting.

I think now more than ever...if there's going to be a Mo trade...it won't be until draft day. The Jets have to let the top of the draft play out before making any moves.
