The Jets trade down to # 27 with Green Bay. GB wants Reggie Ragland the big MLB so they can move Clay Mathews back to OLB. The Jets receive GB's 3rd round pick #88 and their 5th round pick #163.
ROUND #1. NOAH SPENCE/ OLB/ E.KENTUCKY (OHIO .ST) If for some reason Leonard Floyd from UGA is there at #20 I don't see the Jets trading down. Spence is the explosive edge rusher the Jets haven't had since John Abraham. He was drug tested every week while at EK so the young man seems to have figured it out. He and Lorenzo Mauldin could be a set of monsters coming off the edge for years to come.
ROUND #2. SHON COLEMAN /OT/ AUBURN . A young man who had a battle with cancer and won. Sweet feet for a big man but a little behind because of the time he missed fighting cancer. Has the ability to play on the left side but could start out on the right or even inside at guard until he gets up to speed with the pro game.
ROUND #3A. NICK MARTIN / OC/ NOTRE DAME. Could this be Nick Mangold's replacement? I know the Jets are trying out Dakota Dozier at some center so they do have a young and promising player on the roster now. But if Matrin falls to the third round it would be tough to pass him up. There are a few centers I really like in this draft (Kelly from Bama and Allen from Mich.St) Martin is a true field general and would be a wonderful replacement for Mangold in a few years.
ROUND #3B. TYLER MATAKEVICH /LB/ TEMPLE. Coach Bowles goes back to his school to select Matakevich. Makes up for his lack size and burning speed with amazing read and react skills. Super aggressive plays with fire and passion. Will need to learn to slow down and protect the cut back if he plays MLB for the Jets but he should be fun to watch as he learns.
ROUND #4. KENNY LAWLER /WR/ CALIFORNIA. A big 6'2 kid with great hands. Makes the difficult catch look easy. Will need to put on some weight to handle the pounding of the pro game. Brandon Marshall can't play forever.
ROUND #5. TYVIS POWELL / FS / OHIO ST. Tall cover safety (6'3 210lbs) played alot of man coverage so he will fit right in with the Jets defense. Jets are in need of some safetys that can cover as they have bangers like Pryor,Bailey,Martin and Miles.
ROUND #7A. GERALD DIXON JR. / NG / SO.CAROLINA. Losing Snacks hurts in a big way. The search is now on to find his long term replacement. Dixon is a massive 6'3 325lbs and holds his ground vs the double team. He is only a two down player at this point but the Jets need to work on finding their future starter as free agent Steve McLendon is only a stop gap player.
ROUND 7B. TOM HACKETT / P / UTAH. He has been the nations top punter for the last few years. Is he the long term answer to the Jets punting troubles? Lets hope so.
Let me know what you guys think. J-E-T-S BABY !!
