Much like 2014 was an epic WR draft, 2017 looks to be that for the RB position. I was looking through some high school recruiting news to see where the top commits are going and kept reading how schools are going to need to replace their top rushers. Take a look at some of the backs that will be draft eligible next year.
Leonard Fournette, LSU Dalvin Cook, FSU Christian McCaffrey, Stanford Nick Chubb, Georgia Samaje Perine, Oklahoma Wayne Gallman, Clemson Royce Freeman, Oregon Elijah Hood, North Carolina.
Barring injury and and off field stuff all those guys could go in the first two rounds next year, and maybe as many as 4 in the first round. There will be a lot of talk about the RB position next year, so just like I had mentioned back in September of 2013 that the the 2014 WR class was going to be one of the deepest ever, you heard it here first that the RB class of 2017 will be the deepest in the last decade or so.

I have seen some speculation that this is why RBs seemed to drop in this year's class, because of the depth and quality that is expected to come out next season.

Give me McCaffrey
Kid does it all and has the bloodlines to top it off.

In the last 4 years, there have been 81 RBs selected in the NFL draft. 31 different teams have selected at least 1 RB. The only team not to select an RB, the New York Jets (not counting Tommy Bohanon or any other FBs). Last RB drafted by the Jets. Terrance Ganaway from Baylor in the 6th round in 2012.
Which is more likely and RB next year somewhere in the draft or an offensive player in the first round?

The Jets recent history of drafting (or ignoring) offensive skill players has been the worst in the league. When Bilal Powell is the best offensive weapon you have drafted in the last 6 years, you have issues.

I'm extremely worried about Chubb's injury because it was multiple ligaments. I've always liked their other back, Sony Michel and he will be draft eligible this year. Any thoughts Lith? I know I asked you this before but I didn't catch many Georgia games this year.

I know I asked you this before but I didn't catch many Georgia games this year. He is a speed back who struggles between the tackles. Michel seems to me to be the type of guy who puts up big numbers against weak defenses, but struggles against the better teams. He is inconsistent, usually trying to make the big play whenever he touches the ball, so his numbers will often be inflated by one or two big plays and a whole lot of nothing through most of the game. I would like to see him learn to take the 4 or 5 yard gain when it is there rather than trying to hit a home run every time he touches the ball, because the home runs are much less frequent against good defenses, & especially in the pros. I am really hoping to see him be more steady this season.

If Cook can stay out of trouble this year he will be a solid top 15 pick next year, he has killed Clemson as well and I won't be sorry to see him leave the ACC. I really like Elijah Hood from UNC though, he is 20 pounds heavier than Cook but if you watch him run you wouldn't think he is 220 pounds.

I can't imagine he gives Chubb 20 carries a game after his injury. Knowing Smart's background though I can see Georgia running the ball a lot this year.

I really hope the Jets go RB in the first round next year with all this talent available. All the guys mentioned are beasts (I love Cook).
You know what other position is loaded next year? Edge rusher:
Myles Garrett Texas A&M
Derek Barnett Tennessee
Charles Harris Missouri (he wears Sheldon's number)
Carl Lawson Auburn
Devonte Fields Louisville
Tim Williams Alabama
Even with Mauldin and Jenkins on the roster, I wouldn't mind going edge rusher with one of these guys next year and pushing Jenkins inside next to Lee.

I thought if I typed that out it would help. It actually made it worse.

I swear to god if we ever take another project WR that only caught 30 balls in their best year I'll kick our GM in the nuts. Stephen Hill and the soon to be bust Devin Smith piss me off.

Smith will come around...once we start a QB who can actually throw the ball 30 yds downfield.

What about Conner.... has everyone conceded his career after his cancer battle? I'm really high on Jalen Hurd from Tenessee. I think he has the potential to be even better in the NFL that he was in college based on style/offense. He Fascinates me.
