Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey says 30-year-old Ashley Parkins Pruitt was arrested in November 2014 and charged with sex crimes involving three of her former students. Pruitt worked at Locust Fork High School from 2012 to 2014, and at Appalachian High School from 2014 to 2015. Authorities say Pruitt sent explicit pictures of herself to a student who was under 18. Around that same time, she allegedly had sexual contact with two other students younger than 19. Pruitt pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of sex act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student and two counts of porn distribution to a minor. Pruitt will serve one year in jail and two years under house arrest. |

   A special education teacher and mother-of-five from Illinois has been arrested on multiple counts of sexual assault involving a student under the age of 18. Sarah Myers, 40, was taken into custody last Wednesday after administrators at North Boone School District contacted the authorities alleging that the educator had sexually abused a student at North Boone High School. According to Myers’ teacher page, she has been with the district for three years, teaching special education and math, and she also is a freshman student adviser. Myers, who lives in Garden Prairie with her three sons and two daughters, was charged with two Class 1 felony counts of sexual assault, which are punishable by up to 15 years in prison. She was ordered held at the Boone County Jail on $100,000 bond. Investigators have not disclosed any details on the alleged victim, including the person’s exact age or sex, but Boone County Sheriff Dave Ernest told The Register Star the minor was not a special education student.
