It's not illegal to carry large amounts of money and the vast majority of persons carrying large amounts of money have documentation on hand because of liability etc.
don't be a fool. of course money laundering should be and is a crime but the limits make it all that much easier for the law to go after people who do carry large amounts of cash. and don't forget that the 10K limit was set a long time ago. maybe it's time to up it.
