...the Bengals have two guys who may be placed on PS that are interesting...Alex Cooper who can play any position on the line and a 6'7" tackle John Weidenaar who was a rock at Montana St...

Good thread. I was just saying something about this in MrCoops 53-man projection thread. The Jets need another Lineman. I think they'll cut down to 52 and get somebody from another team.
Any other guys you'd expect to be out there?

I mentioned in another thread that the Steelers are trying to sneak Jerald Hawkins onto their IR. He was a fourth rounder this year out of LSU and I liked him coming out this year. I'd definitely put a claim in for him, future LT.

He still counts against their roster until the final cuts, but it negates the risk of losing him on waivers.

Since they cut him early I'm pretty sure he has to go through waivers regardless. I think that's if you want to clear the roster spot by passing him through waivers before he lands on IR. My understanding is you can put him straight onto IR without waiving him, but he still counts against the roster limit until the final cut down.

I thought you had to wait until the final cutdown to send a young player straight to IR like we did Amaro last year. I'm probably totally wrong though and that could explain what the Steelers did.

Yeah, that's usually what happens - designed to stop teams stashing young guys on the IR with fake injuries. But there is a way to move a young guy straight to IR pre-cuts, as long as you still count him against the roster limit. Not really sure what the benefit of IRing is at that point is, since you don't free up a roster spot, but it does seem to happen sometimes.

Did see this last week, so I would not be surprised if we kick the tires on some guys who shake loose this weak:
Also, if Breno is going to start the season on PUP - may as well release him with injury settlement. $5.6MM cap hit is way too much for a below average player who will miss at least half the season on PUP.

What team is dropping a decent OL at this point? Maybe we will find someone to add to our depth but in terms of making an improvement to the starters I dont see that happening.
If you want OL you get them the first day of FA or the first round.
