Playing devil's advocate, plenty of my tax money already goes to prop up lazy ass American citizens who don't want to work or learn; at least this kid did well in school and seemed to want to get an education. We have enough problems taking care of our own citizens we don't need to give money to illegal aliens. So you'd rather your tax money go to a single welfare mom with 8 kids sucking on the public teat, just because they were born on this side of the border? Or to a kid who came here as a child, worked hard, and by all accounts, wants to stay and succeed? If its one or the other, I kinda prefer the latter option. As I posted before, in theory, Im not in favor of the government stealing my tax dollars for either of those scenarios, but since they will anyway, Id rather they spend it on a safer bet, than to flush it down the toilet. |

Frankly, I don't care who they let in as long as they aren't criminals, not carrying diseases, and ASSIMILATE. Which this kid seems to meet all of your criteria? Came here as a child, with his family, its not like he hopped the border at 18 and now wants to go to college. He did well in school, worked jobs in high school - basically a better profile for success than many of our lazy ass American citizens of a similar age. Im all for limiting immigration numbers, and background checks, and enforcing immigration policy, but this kid on the surface seems to fit the profile of the kind of immigrant we'd want here, no? It looks like he may get the money covered by private citizens anyway. To the crux of the issue, Im pretty much in agreement with you that our public dollars shouldnt be spent in this way, then again, our public dollars could be spent a lot more wisely in a lot of ways. And thats not going to change any time soon, regardless of whos in the White House. Ok tell him to take the pledge and become a citizen and the scholarship is all his. |

Publicly funded scholarship to illegal aliens. What a fucked up situation. He should not be getting free anything from us. Try moving to Mexico, get government handouts, free healthcare, education, scholarships, housing, etc.? You'll get a fucking cactus up yours ass. Why is it the U.S.'s responsibility to take care of these people and provide free handouts to illegals who aren't even fucking citizens? FUck that. I want it to fucking stop. In my office building we have a "medicaid" dental practice. Literally HUNDREDS of latinos who cant speak a lick of english, walk in with Iphones and they seem to know how to get free dental, medical and schooling. Yet we have Americans living in poverty. |

The only thing that changed my life was a job. It got me around educated people where I started to emulate them. Hard work unfortunately is the only answer. Can't give illegals money for college. That incentivizes more illegal immigration. Just take a look at what going on in Europe.
We need to give incentives to people that are already here. Thats why I support school choice. Give parents the ability to have a say and I believe they will take more ownership of the situation and the kids will do better. People feel stuck and like they have no say.
