That Rex's sideline management problems did not improve over six years may be enough for any GM to have serious reservations about bringing in Rex as a HC. IMO it's more likely that Rex comes back into the league as a DC. I could see a number of teams having serious interest in him as a DC, including those who just dumped their HCs today.
IMO it's also better for Rex's career to step down to a DC role for a few years before trying to move back into a HC position. He can reestablish himself as a premier defensive strategist and work on improving his management skills both off and on the field so he comes back as a stronger candidate. No coach can turn down an opportunity to step into an HC role but if one isn't available he should jump at taking a DC role before possible media positions.

Interesting if he does get the Falcon gig he will be in the same division as his brother. Assuming Rob survives this dreadful season of course.
