Tony Romo And that might be the last straw for me I think you may be right. If BOTH Fitz and Geno are gone (pretty likely) the Jets HAVE TO get a veteran in here....even if symbolically to compete with Petty and Hack. I think the other factor has to be Chan Gailey. He will be a loud voice in the decision making process. I'm not even sure how long he sticks around with the Jets but he will obviously be a key part of if/who to acquire as a FA or make a trade for a veteran.

I'm gonna say Petty. He'll play the final month this year. He won't be terrible but he won't be great. And then I think they'll just ride it out in the beginning next year with him as well before giving Hack a shot.
A trade or FA pick up of Romo or Cutler makes zero sense for this team to make. Romo is 20x better then Fitz/Geno will ever be, but what's the point? This roster isn't close to competing. Try your young guys out.

I really will hate to see you guys heartbroken, when Petty never sees the field as a starter.

I'll say Petty. I think he'll get some reps after Geno does the inevitable. I think he'll play well enough to get the nod next year. Hopefully Hackenberg makes enough strides to let him be the lone backup too.

If Miami implodes I think they cut Tannehill, and we end up with him.
