Someone help me out. NYC has an estimated 800K illegal immigrants. If they were gone in a year our schools would be less crowded, tax revenue would increase, housing costs would drop, wages would increase and unpaid medical expenses would drop. Why is getting rid of illegal immigrants a bad thing? Seriously. FF2? Other Liberals? Help me understand your position. Housing costs and health care costs are not going down; there is no precedent for that. Let me know when they drop. I see it's possible that these costs could be held down if the Mayors Office uses instruments to artificially keep the price of ownership/coverage down, WHILE THEY REPLACE THOSE LOST JOBS. Do you think they would need help to replace those jobs in NYC? If they did: ( THe SFMayor office housing will help with below market rate "costs of ownership" but attach a rider to the property; effective when refi or when you sell. it's about 25% any appreciation earned, to escape the rider).NYC is no place for a hanger-on. McD's meals are 12 bucks. these folks don't have transportation and are landlocked if not working. Any jobs would immediately have to be filled with legals; and that means $16 min wage. Upward price pressure; very painful. So - if all 800,000 are couch-surfing and not contributing, the buses would be less crowded. Otherwise, the above factors have to be considered. |

These illegals almost exclusively pay no income tax, even if they file. Many file and get an earned income credit. They use public services , free schools with 3 families in one house, over crowding our school, etc..... but I do enjoy a dollar happy meal. |
