Tannenbaum drafted in his first two years Ferguson, Mangold Brad smith, Leon Washington, Revis, and Harris. Those two drafts included a trade for Thomas jones also. What did idzik do in your mind to prove he was a better drafter of talent.
That was Tanny with Mangini. As I said Tanny with Mangini as A-OK. Tanny without Mangini was a train wreck that was so bad by comparison it makes Idzik's drafts look good. With Rex, With Rex,we traded picks for Edwards, Holmes, and Cromartie. We drafted Wilkerson, Ellis, kerley, and Powell. Name me one player Idzik drafted that contributed the way those guys have. Please, name one.

Every time I think about Idzik I get very angry. Forget about his drafts. if he had shown Howard and Slauson the money,{not much}, we wouldn't be crying about our offensive line.

Edwards was not a trade. The Browns waived him. Holmes was obtained with a 5th round pick. (Ironically, the Steelers traded the pick to the Cardinals for a sixth round pick, which they used to draft Antonio Brown) Cromartie was obtained for a second round pick. Query, is 4 years of a starting #2 CB worth a second round pick? Rex with Tanny used first and second round picks on : Coples, Hill, Wilson, and Ducasse. Wilkerson and Powell are the only guys you name drafted by Tanny/Rex who became starters and/or are on the current roster. Idzik sucked big time, but he did somehow manage to draft Sheldon Richardson, Brian Winters, Calvin Pryor and Quincy Enunwa. He also signed Decker as a free agent. Not sure why you want to defend the Rex/Tanny era, but feel free to. By any objective measurement, they did a piss poor job of drafting. So bad, that Idzik does not look terrible by comparison.

He was a massive part of those teams that went to two AFC Championship games. Literally the best teams we had in nearly a decade. Folks hated Sanchez but the trade up to get him was similarly very inexpensive. _

Tanny also traded a 3rd rounder for Kris Jenkins, a beast. I guess it was Tanny's fault he blew out his knee. Are we a better team now, after Idzik, compared to what we were when Tanny got canned??. Did Tanny whiff on picks, and make some bad decisions. Shit yea. But he added far more good players to the roster then idzik ever did.

Championship teams are built through drafting, not trading I understand, and im not dismissing your point. Those trades though have to be considered part of that draft class. we traded picks to get them. And when you consider that and some of the players we drafted that did contribute, even the Tanny/Rex drafts added more talent then Idzik ever did.

IMO if you want championships, you build through the draft.

If Shonn Green and that corner didn't get hurt, we beat Indy and win that Super Bowl. 35 yds away from beating the Steelers too.Ah, memories.

And sadly the team was not built to last because it was not built through the draft.
