Well, only 3 weeks in, faster than I imagined.

The WH said that even though what he did was not illegal he violated the president's trust in him.  Trump asked for his resignation and he gave it.

My gut feeling is Trump wanted to keep him but he was becoming a liability.  Let them have their pound of flesh and move on.  

I hope they learn their lesson.  The establishment of both parties, the media and many political appointees inside various agencies want to take them down.  I hope Sessions, Pompeo and Tillerson get their people in and manage it the best they can.  They are going to have to battle for everything.

I dont even think he lied to the VP.  I think Pence and Trump both knew.  I actually think he was instructed to tell the Russians not to worry.  And I think that is perfectly fine bc those last minute sanctions by the Obama Administration were meant to delegitimize Trump's victory and make things harder on them with Russia.  That was Obama having a tantrum on his way out of office.

This is the intel community flexing their muscles and putting sour grapes ahead of national security.
