So the Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin (supposedly) died of a heart attack while in New York. He is the guy Flynn was supposed to be talking to in the infamous phone conversations.
Dying so far from Russia means he would need to either have an autopsy done in NYC or the body will be delayed for hours before an autopsy can be performed; allowing for most if not all forms of poisons to be fully dissolved. If you do not do an autopsy immediately - you allow greater room for circumstances to alter the body eliminating the chances of a more precise examination. If it was murder from poisoning, sound wave induced heart attack or by injection - you cannot find those traces if the body is not immediately examined.
Sounds like Tillerson and Bannon just took care of a problem and loose end for Putin.
