So, when I was sitting with the 4th pick in the 2nd round, I was deciding between trading back with Paradis or taking either Evan Engram or Curtis Samuel. I see Samuel as a Percy Harvin type playmaker. A big play guy who should get 8-12 touches a game -- rushing, receiving and returns. I never thought he woudl drop to 20. Now that he dropped lower than I expected, I am looking a gift horse in the mouth. Watching his tape, I have some concerns, lets the ball into his body, average hands, hasn't run a lot of NFL routes, but with his combination of quickness, elusiveness and speed he will make enough big plays to offset that.
Curious as to what others think. Did I overvalue him in the 2nd?

Paradis! Dalvin Cook!? C'mon man! His skills will be wasted without a QB and behind a terrible line. By the time the rest of the team is good, he will be too beat down to contribute. Also, the next time he chips a Blitzer on his way out of the backfield to be a receiver will be the first.

Yes I did, but why not hooker, lattimore, or one of the other CBs? I'd even rather take Barnett over Cook.

Barnett's over rated and not every versatile IMO... hooker's injured and lattimore will be. I'm not spending a top 10 pick on secondary unless that shit is lock tight. Not even close with Lattimore... How about Offense? how about the best playmaker in the draft? You're asking me to consider a corner because of his upside/impact, and yet RB is excluded because sometimes round 4 guys are productive for a couple years?

Also, the next time he chips a Blitzer on his way out of the backfield to be a receiver will be the first. Last year, with terrible QB play and the same OL, we managed to rush for over 4.3 yards a carry. And in the last month of the season, Powell gained over 400 yards and over 5 yards per carry. Run blocking was not an issue for the OL. I would expect Cook to be very productive for us if he were the pick. Pass blocking may be another story, but I suspect some of that was on the inexperience of Petty at QB, since Fitz was sacked on about 4.5% of his dropbacks, which is at or better than league average, but Petty on 9%.

If Powell wasn't 30 and hurt virtually every time he gets the rock more than 5 times a game -- i'd knock RB down the list significantly. But alas, Matt's old, and Powell's no spring chicken and can't stay healthy. How do help protect a QB? 1) Oline 2) RB Where's the value in the top 10 in 2017?

I think Cook will be a good pick. I would probably take Williams ahead of him, but I think our OL is good enough to block effectively and that Cook would be productive. I would have some reservations, primarily due to the off field stuff and ball security, but would not have a major problem with Cook at 6.

I know, i just reinforcing that our situation at RB isn't exactly settled. If anything Powell flashing last year showed us what it could look like with a fulltime gangster back there. Cook/Williams is fine with me. Agreed about the off-field stuff. I wish it wasn't so. Lord do i ever.

A Lot of upside if used correctly, but he scares me a bit. I think zay Jones compares to Anquan boldin. So to me it came down to would I rather have Percy Harvin or Anquan boldin. I went the boldin route.

I just don't think cook will be a dynamic playmaker in the NFL. Frankly, unless Adams is available at 6, I hope the Jets trade out of the spot.
