I'm beginning to lose my mind with various mocks, and others having us taking Trabitsky. I can't remember if it was Kiper or McShay, but one mocked Trubisky to us and then in the very next segment titled "Who do you think will be taken way too high?" the same guy was like Trubisky. I was like WTF.

Deshone Kizer.
I will absolutely lose my shit if we pick him ag 6.
Worse than I lost my shit last year with Hack in the 2nd but pretty damn close and I REALLY lost my shit when they picked Hack.
I wouldn't love Trubisky or Watson but I'd get it and support it.
But not Kizer.
Just play it safe, give me OJ Howard and fill out the roster with the rest of our draft.

Kizer would postpone any improvement the Jets could make another two years at a minimum. And would prove that Macc and Bowles do not understand how to build a team, based on our current situation. Kiser may be a great pick for a team with a veteran that can prevent Kizer from seeing the field for a few years. I would definitely prefer not to go QB at all in the first three rounds but Watson and Trubisky I could put aside my rational thinking and let fandom take over. I also think Lattimore would be a disaster. This draft is so deep at corner that there will almost definitely be a starting quality corner on the board at 39. Of course, another DT would be incredibly frustrating. I could even tolerate Solomon Thomas over Allen. But if Thomas ends up the Jets pick, it would necessitate switching to a 4-3 front and moving Lee back to OLB.

Trubisky and Kizer would be immediate - you got to be fucking kidding me response.
Hooker or Lattimore would be immediate - SOJ type of response
Fournette would be a hand in face moment.

So the discussion in the other thread made me starting wondering about who all of the various draftniks around here are dead set against at 6. I will preface this by saying I'm not much for instant negativity without letting things play out. However, if the Jets take OJ Howard at #6, I'm gonna be bummed. I don't think he's as good as most think, I don't think any TE is worth #6, and if we are rebuilding and take one at 6 when quite possibly a NFL starter for multiple years could be had 3-4 rounds later, I'll be pretty disappointed. By say "Fuck", you mean "Fuck Mike Maccagnan!", right? That would be Lattimore for sure. With such a deep CB draft, it would be foolish to invest a 1st rounder on Milliner, Jr. It woould be foolish to spend a 1st rounder on any CB for that matter, even if Lattimore wasn't injury prone.

Tony Pauline's latest mock would have me say fuck....trading down 3 spots with the Bengals - missing out on Howard, Fournette and Cook...to take Lattimore at 9 and getting Cincy's third rounder.
FUUUUUUUUUCK THAT!

I think the jets philosiphy in regards to the draft has been to try and hit homeruns. They need to start swinging for singles and doubles.
Gholston, coples, Stephen hill, Devin Smith, hackenfail. These where swings for the fences. Players that were physical specimens, maybe good athletes but not good football players. Stephen hill was 6'4 and ran a 4.3 but couldn't catch a cold. Devin smith can only run in a straight line. Hack has the size and the arm strength but can't hit the side of a barn.
They need to stop overthinking things and take players that have produced on the field.
At 6 I'm happy with Fournette Cook Mike Williams Oj Howard Reuben foster Trade back
Players I don't want... lattimore, Hooker, allen, john ross and any of the qbs.
At 6 I really think the jets should trade back and get an extra pick or 2. There will be many good players available in the teens and twenties and if we can get extra picks, that only helps the rebuilding.

trading back requires a trade-back partner. Good luck with that at the #6 spot. I doubt there will be much interest in moving to that spot unless Fournette is there or a QB that someone covets. The odds are that you will not see a trade back. That hurts as much as we all want it, but the mid 1st thru much of the 3rd round is just loaded this year. THere is very little reason for a team to give up those valuable picks just to move to #6 to get Howard, Fournette, Hooker, etc.
Those of us pinning our hopes on a tradeback (including me) are in store for likely disappointment.

David Carr was asked who the Jets need to select from the draft to beat the Flats* and that dick answered Daniel Jeremiah's Top 10... all of them. I'm not saying he's wrong, but what a dick.

OffenseEric Decker Evan Engram - Kelvin Beachum - James Carpenter - Wesley Johnson - Brian Winter - Brandon Shell - OJ Howard Mike Williams Josh McCown
Leonard Fournette
Defense
Leonard Williams - Steve McClendon - Muhammad Wilkerson Myles Garrett - David Harris - Darron Lee - TJ Watt Marshon Lattimore Tre'Davious White Malik Hooker - Jamal Adams
That's the 10 I'd probably plug in to fill out the team. We'd split with the Pats, but to win the Superbowl I'd probably need another 5.
Give me Haason Reddick, Budda Baker, Dalvin Cook, Ryan Ramcyzk, and Forrest Lamp.

If we don't take Howard, Fournette, Cook or Williams (who I don't even want) I will lose my shit.
We need to take a dynamic offensive game breaker.
We take a defensive player and fuck me.

We take a defensive player and fuck me. _ For how long can we possibly ignore the offense? It is just a dumb, inefficient way of building a powerhouse team. That was one thing I could never understand the last 10-15 years, especially the last 6-7. There is this ridiculous notion seemingly that you keep filling the defense with premium picks and then "manage" the offensive side of the ball and not make mistakes. That has turned in wonderful results. Why can't these fucken people running the team and coaching realize that you need to be strong on both sides to be a real player. And these days, honestly, the offense is probably even more important with all of the bullshit rules changes created solely to generate what? More offense!

Lattimore
Obviously there are a lot of other picks that would make me say fuck but I can already see Lattimore on the bike.
