Louise Rosealma was punched by Nathan Damigo — a white supremacist who attends California State Stanislaus — during Saturday’s “Patriots Day” demonstration organized by alt-right Nazi group the Proud Boys, KPIX-TV reported.
Cal State Stanislaus President Ellen Junn said in a statement Sunday that the university has launched an “immediate investigation” into allegations that one of its students may have been involved in the demonstration.
Rosealma had traveled to Berkeley with her boyfriend and friends to support counter-protesters, but she knew the demonstration would soon turn violent.

“We were hoping for the best and expecting the worst,” she told the TV station.

Rosealma was caught in a group of counter protesters when a smoke bomb went off in the area where the white nationalists rallied.
“It (the smoke) filled the whole intersection," the activist recalled. "They started rushing and started attacking people.”

She said she was in a cornered spot when she saw a man’s fist strike her in the face. She then raised her arms trying to push the man away.

“He punched me on the bridge of my nose. It cut it a little bit,” Rosealma told KPIX. “I got thrown down and I’m pretty sure he just ran (away). I got right back up. I was punched twice more by two other people. People kept trying to throw me down to hit my head on the rocks that were in the planter. I was just trying to not get my skull cracked open.”
Terrified, Rosealma was searching for her boyfriend in the melee, who she eventually found covered in blood.
The activist said there was no police presence during the attack.

However, Chakko Matthai, a spokesman for the city of Berkeley, told the station authorities would be looking into prosecuting the attackers in the protest.
Rosealma and Damigo couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday
