ISIS soldiers were the target of a deadly rampage by a herd of wild boars in Kurdistan.
The beasts managed to kill three ISIS fighter and injure five more, according to a local report.
The soldiers were hidden in a bed of reeds in the Harmin mountains, about 55 miles southwest of Kirkuk when the boars went on a killing spree. The fighters reportedly had plans to ambush local tribes who had fled to the Harmin montains when the radical group seized control of the town of Hawija in 2014. In anticipation of such an attack, local tributes had formed anti-ISIS brigades.
ISIS tried to kill the boars in retaliation, but further details regarding the bizarre incident remained unclear.
In Islamic law, boars are considered “dirty” animals and their meat is “haram,” or banned, which makes the attack all the more devastating for the radical jihadists.
Peshmerga and Iraqi forces have been focused on fighting ISIS in Mosel, the de facto capital in Iraq, for the last six months.
In 2014, ISIS attacked Iraq and Syria to establish a self-proclaimed Khalifa.
