They don't have a boss, they work for themselves. Like I said, motivated. And pray tell...how do you know how that young man behaves....from a picture?  That's my point.... I pre judged him. His problem, not mine. If those electricians and plumbers you you mention work for themselves, I call bullshit basically. YEs it happens but very few people open their own shop in licensed trades like that before the age of 30. It's rare but if so... they are clearly the minority. If that stupid fuck in the pic has that many idiotic tattoos at the very least it shows terrible judgement and a lack of understanding that those fucking things are permanent. Might look ok now (although his looked terrible), but he's gonna look like a purple blurry fool and will hate them when he's 50. |

Ask their boss how hard it is to hire young kids today and again, you dodge the point. The young kid in the photo, in my opinion, is very discriminated against with little doubt. Its his behavior. You cant, but if I was getting bids to do work, and all other things were equal, and that kid showed up, vs another guy with his pants pulled up and not looking all wannabe thug life, Im going with the other guy. Thats just reality. Im assuming hes more reliable and more likely to show up in the morning for work. Thats it. Life is all about first impressions, right or wrong. |

Life is all about first impressions, right or wrong. or... if they shuffle from one place to another. Ive discussed with a few clients and I feel the same way. You can tell a lot by how quickly someone walks. One of my large clients stated, when Im giving a tour of the plant, if they prospect is behind me at a slow pace, ive learned to not hire that person. I was at a "Which-Which" the other day. Crowded as all get out. 3 young black men were at the sandwich area preparing the orders, Cranking it out, smiles on their faces and actually looked like they loved it being busy. You could tell they were friends and enjoyed working together. As I waited for my food I asked one how old he was... he said 19. I stated to ALL of them. "You work like that , be good at whatever you do and dont tell anyone one you cant. You will make a VERY GOOD living. I can see it in all of you..success awaits you." The smile on their faces was priceless. |
