Throwing peanuts at a player now makes him ...a stereotyped elephant? If it was bananas or Lantern batteries I'd understand any complaint. After 12 years it's just latching on to BLM hysteria I didnt get the peanuts thing either. If they're going for the racist angle, monkeys dont eat peanuts. Hell, even elephants really dont want to eat peanuts, they prefer sugar cane, vegetation, and ironically, bananas. Elephants eat 16-18 hours a day, that would be a fuck-ton of peanuts. Peanuts are readily available at baseball games, however, so if youre going to throw something, I guess they are more throwable than popcorn or Cracker Jacks?

Peanuts are really reasonably priced at Fenway, comparatively speaking. Bags are big too!

62 african American major leaguers is right in line with th US population statistics when you look at the number of American Baseball players overall. They're actually under-represented...the US is, what, ~13% African American, and MLB is actually less, around 8% African American? But with the NBA ~70% African American, and the NFL ~67% African American, Id have thought the numbers for MLB would be a little higher - not close to the NBA or NFL, but closer to 15%. I was way off. You can't really look at it as percentage in baseball compared to us population due to the high percentage of foreign players. A more reasonable comparison is African American players compared to number of American players overall.

Wow, only 62 black major leaguers? I know Ive read stuff about how kids are playing more football and basketball, but that number seems really low. And yeah, some Boston sports fans are racist? In other news, water is wet and the sky is blue. 62 african American major leaguers is right in line with th US population statistics when you look at the number of American Baseball players overall. When you look at professional sports overall there is a very healthy percentage of AA participants. The issue with the MLB is that the number is dwindling. I dont think anyone is accusing the league of being racist but there has been a shift away from baseball.
