Yeah, it was a good cooking day. I made some coconut rice and mesclun salad (Parmigiano vinaigrette) to round out the dinner. JS, you live in Bergen. I gotta give a huge shout out to my favorite fish market, The Fish Dock in Closter. All fish is shipped to them directly from their native Iceland. You will not find fresher fish in the area. You ever been there? If not, stop in sometime if you're in this part of Bergen. thefishdock.comLooks like an excellent market. One thing, I'd avoid the farmed Faroe Island salmon. Wild caught is definitely best, and if I'm not catching it myself, I order it directly from Alaska. This is my favorite place. Also great for king crab and shrimp, as well as dry boat scallops. www.great-alaska-seafood.com/

Yeah, I eat no farmed fish no matter how much they tell me it's free of antibiotics, etc. Where do you fish for salmon?

Lake Ontario from upstate NY, and Washington State, out of Seattle. Unfortunately, because of location, I can't target this species. Thus, I order from Great Alaska whenever I want quality fish. Quick story: last week I was having some car repairs done. I'm speaking with the receptionist and she mentions that she is preparing fish for dinner. I ask her what type, and she says that it is her favorite, tilapia! I nearly hurled! Nothing is nastier than tilapia. Yuck!

One of the things my kids got me for Father's Day was a slow cooker. Never had one. Making Ropa Vieja with black beans and yellow rice. Just shredded the meat and threw it back in the cooker for another hour. Can't wait. _ My only experience with slow cookers was my Mom's old Crock Pot. How'd everything turn out? Came out great. Tasted like real Cuban RV. Trying to figure out what to try next. Vindaloo, pulled Buffalo chicken or pulled pork. It's a great little machine. _

^^ I got a slow cooker just last year and it's been great. Made a simple beef roast with potatoes and it came out soooo tender and tasty. Also made my husband's favorite Swiss Steak from his childhood and he loved it. Pulled pork and chili were on his list but never got around to making them. Did cook a pork roast and it was so moist and tender, not dried out like in the oven. Trying to think of what else I made.

100%. I'm trying to decide weather to do lamb or chicken. _ 100% has to be lamb. Gotta send me the recipe. Love me some vindaloo. Yeah I'm thinking lamb but chicken is such a good foil for slow cooking. You can use any protein, I saw one for beef and one for pork. Is that even kosher? I have about 6 recipes I'm going to take bits and pieces of. I'll give you the full run down. I am not going to put potatoes in it. Served over basmati rice with nan. _
