Ok....defend this....
The owner of Dixie Services, an Idaho-based contracting company, is defending its logo of a cartoon black girl eating watermelon amid criticism that it’s racist.
Jim Valentine told local ABC affiliate KXLY that the image fits well with his company, which he said represents the good times for many people in the 19th-century South.
The image, which is posted on the side of the company’s trucks, depicts a dark-skinned African girl grinning and holding up a large slice of watermelon — a racist caricature also known as the “pickaninny.”
“I was looking at it saying, ‘Is it the watermelon? Is it her hair?’” Mr. Valentine said. “And I know why they don’t like it. It’s ‘cause she’s smiling and a very happy child like a lot of children were in the 1800s.”
Dixie Services also posts Confederate flags on the front of its trucks, which Mr. Valentine described as historical, not racist.
“This kind of hatred thing that’s been built up around the Confederate flag, there’s a lot of goodness and happiness and it’s a part of history and a part of heritage, so we put the name on our company,” he told KXLY.

It never ceases to amaze how dense some supppsedly smart people are.
Having said that, I've already had 2 watermelons this season and they were as good as any I had all of last year.

Idaho has had small groups of white supremacist for about about 30 years flocking to the small government state.
This contractor is just feeding off of them, what you going to do.

Imagine the outrage if trucks were rolling around with swastikas painted on the side? There would be rightful public outrage. Yet a certain segment of society feels it perfectly fine to roll with this. Edit: forgot to add...respectfully, GFY. |

There is outrage. Go look on their Google and Yelp reviews. They have been outed by the community. But its also Idaho, and nobody gives a fuck about Idaho. Especially the MSM so you are not going to see it covered. Thats just how it works.

Worst marketing decision ever.
But not something Id want the the gov't intervening in either.
Pickaninny, swastika, or other offensive imagery, let the public and market crush them as will inevitably happen, and rightfully so. Sounds like the customer reviews are already doing that. Sounds like there already is public outrage.
And as noted, trucks in NYC festooned with swastikas are going to get more public outcry and media attention than this situation in bumfuck Idaho.
