Day 18With the 18th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected Chad Pennington, QB, Marshall Still the last Jets QB to have a season with over 60% completions, with less than 1 int per game. I miss pre-injury Chad.

And the 18th pick in 2014. Thanks, Idzik. I don't miss Calvin.

I miss pre-injury Chad. I named my golden retriever after him. Penny just passed away last year at 15. Can't believe how long ago that was. _

Day 17The only time in their history that the Jets selected 17th in the draft was back in 1968. And, with the 17th pick in the 1968 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected Lee White, RB, Weber State. Anyone remember Lee? He played 3 seasons for the Jets, 68-70, had 98 carries for 303 yards. Not much to remember. But Lee played a pivotal role in one critical play in the 1971 preseason. It was Lee White who fumbled a handoff from Joe Namath. His fumble was recovered by Lions LB Mike Lucci, and Namath tried to make the tackle, but got hit by another Lions defender tearing up his knee. White was released by the Jets shortly after that pre-season game. He finished his career playing one season each for Rams and Eagles.

Day 16With the 16th pick in the 1995 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected Hugh Douglas, DE, Central State University. Hugh would play 3 seasons for the Jets, picking up 22 sacks and winning the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award with 10 sacks in 1995. He was traded to the Eagles in 1998 because he was not a fit for Bill Parcells 3-4 scheme.

With the 16th pick in the 2001 NFL Draft the NY Jets selected Santana Moss, WR, Miami 2 pretty good picks, Moss & Douglas. Although both players ended up contributing more to their 2nd teams than they did for the Jets.

We also had the 16th pick in 2012 and selected Quinton Coples. He did not contribute much to either the Jets or to his 2nd team, or his 3rd team. Being released by both Miami and the Rams after he was waived by the Jets.

Day 15Getting down to the wire. College Football season kicks off today, and just two weeks and 1 day until the Jets kickoff against Buffalo. And what better way to celebrate day 15 than with a couple of draft busts. With the 15th pick in the 1984 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected Ron Faurot, DE, Arkansas.

And, 8 years later, with the 15th pick in the 1992 NFL Draft, the Jets selected Johnny Mitchell, TE, Nebraska At least Mitchell made some contribution in his 4 seasons as a Jet, catching 158 passes, including 16 TDs. Faurot, on the other hand, was waived in October of his second season when he could not make the transition from college DE to OLB in the pros. He would be signed by the Chargers after his release -- he tore up his knee during his first practice and never played in SD. A 20-game NFL career for a 15th overall pick. Not good.

I'm just hoping the Giants don't break McCown tonight.

I'm just hoping the Giants don't break McCown tonight. If the Giants break McCown then we get to see Hack and Petty all year. Best case scenario. Not McCown getting hurt mind you. _

I was at the game where he scored 3 of his 16 total TDs. vs Eagles. Jets still lost that game. Had a big lead in the game, too.
