How? Woody seems to be trying to burn the candle at both ends, right? Without hiring a GM, he is asking GM candidates what coach they'd be comfortable with. Does he then NOT choose a HC because his favorite GM candidate doesn't like that HC? Does he NOT hire the GM because that GM doesn't like Woody's favorite coach? The "source" indicates that this is Woody leading this approach. This is the perfect approach. With all of the drama about how Idzik and Rex had different views on how to run a team Woody, Casserly and Wolf are making sure that the new GM and Head Coach both have mutual interest in working together. It makes perfect sense. I agree that it makes good sense. But there's a lot of "game theory" at play here. If Quinn says he likes guy A but not guy B, and GM candidate B says he likes Quinn but not Bowles, etc. how does this shake out? And, what if not all of these guys know each other or are coming from different organizations?

This is just speculation on my part but I think Quinn gave them a list of guys who he would like to work with. And I only say that b/c the day after his meeting with the Jets it was reported that the Jets requested interviews with like 3 other GM candidates. It's pure speculation but a theory of mine.

Great point. Now, if anyone could tie some relationships between Quinn and the guys who the Jets have recently added to the GM search we might really have some tea leaves to read! The plot thickens!

Quinn and Grier were both on the Dolphins together for a short time - a year or two, I think. Maybe Grier made a positive impression on Quinn at that time. But, basically, we are all just guessing here.
