I don't want to see a competitive losing team, or hear about how the players "didn't quit on the HC". I want an incredibly bad, non-competitive team that leaves no doubt about cleaning house next year. 0-16, scorched earth debacle is what is needed. If that happens you will have the cleanest of slates to start over with a new regime. I just don't think that starting over is the answer, especially if we go for another first-time GM/HC combo. I wouldn't cry if they canned Bowles but another front office overhaul is just asking for more pain. Mac just finished installing his scouting/personnel staff last-season, do we really want to start that whole process again? Or are we going to stick the new guy with Mac's holdovers? Neither of those options seem appealing to me. Bowles is almost certainly gone at this rate, so I think a coaching staff overhaul is enough turmoil for one off-season. Turning over both the CS and FO again is just asking for more disfunction. If they're going to make a move, they should at the least bring in a head of operations who actually knows football to serve above Mac. Let him assess the situation and decide on a direction after next year. The last thing we need is Woody's brother performing a head coach and GM search. If you do that then you can not saddle him with the current GM for one year to evaluate him. There is too much at stake next year for that to happen. This organization has failed at every turn to do this management thing correctly. It's either new GM same HC, new HC same GM or hire the HC then get a GM. It's fucking asinine how this organization is structured. You want a head of operations? Fine, he can bring in HIS GM, HC and staff on day one. Enough of this holdover shit with these regimes, it's not a healthy way to run any organization.

To think, sleepy Bowles was a highly thought of coaching candidate. Hell, I'd rather have Rex, at least he had some fire and the team played hard for him. It's too bad Rex was too much of a "player's coach," and didn't drop the discipline hammer those who needed it. When Rex was hired, I thought this was the guy who was going to take the team to the SB. He got them close, then it imploded.

Not a fan of Macc and Bowles right now but there's only one way to really judge this.
Let's see how many draft picks Mac has hit on that are above average contributing starters since he's been here....
Year Rnd | 2017 1 Jamal Adams Hit 2017 2 Marcus Maye Hit 2017 3 ArDarius Stewart. 2017 4 Chad Hansen 2017 5 Jordan Leggett. 2017 5 Dylan Donahue. 2017 6 Elijah McGuire. Hit 2017 6 Jeremy Clark. 2017 6 Derrick Jones. Year Rnd Player 2016 1 Darron Lee. Bust 2016 2 Christian Hackenberg. Bust 2016 3 Jordan Jenkins. 2016 4 Juston Burris. Hit 2016 5 Brandon Shell. Hit 2016 7 Lac Edwards. 2016 7 Charone Peake. Year Rnd Player 2015 1 Leonard Williams. Hit 2015 2 Devin Smith. Bust 2015 3 Lorenzo Mauldin. Bust 2015 4 Bryce Petty. Backup QB 2015 5 Jarvis Harrison. 2015 7 Deon Simon.
I make that 6 out of 22 picks he's hit on. He first draft in 15 was awful carrying on from the Rex/Idzik shitty drafts before him. I'm not sure I trust this dude with #1 overall next year.
Throw in the Fitz, Revis and Mo contracts while letting snacks walk and I'm not to impressed overall.

I'm not sure I trust this dude with #1 overall next year. Throw in the Fitz, Revis and Mo contracts while letting snacks walk and I'm not to impressed overall. 2015 -- Devin Smith is injured, you can't legitimately call him a bust. And can you call a third round pick a "bust". Granted Mauldin is a disappointment, but I thought bust was a term reserved for first round picks , but I guess it doesn't fit the narrative. Regardless overall not a good draft, but Leo does soften the blow some. 2016 -- you have Burris as a hit but not Jordan Jenkins? That makes no sense. Mac also got a starting Punter at 6 and a depth WR/special teams player at 7 in Peake. Frankly, 3 through 7 was an excellent draft. Lee definitely has the look of a bust, but please go back to the draft an tell me which of the guys picked later in the first round was a better choice at the time? And, don't give me a benefit of hindsight pick. Honestly, no player was worth a first round selection when the Jets spot came up in the first round. No arguments on Hack. And don't forget the forget Robbie Anderson -- he's a Hit. 2017 -- While too soon to tell, 2017 looks like a well above average draft. Most on this board complain that Stewart and Hansen are not getting enough playing time and have looked good. IF you have Maguire as a Hit, why wouldn't Stewart be a Hit? Legget hasn't even played yet, but he looks like a contributor. And Donahue is already filling a role; that's excellent for a 5th round rookie. You do understand the importance of getting special teams players in the later rounds, right? Because you seem to completely disregard special teams contributions of later round picks? IMO your evaluation was not objective (which surprise me because I think we have agreed on a lot of things on this board). You don't like Mac and want the evidence to fit your narrative. Other than Lee and Hack, Mac has done a solid job of drafting, and Lee is not really his fault. No one was worth a first round selection at that point in the draft, and Lee's biggest problem is that he is not well-suited for his current role. I'm not sure if he ever will be, but we won't really know until the Jets put a 350lbs+ NT in front of him. But, Hack -- Yeah -- that pick is a big turd ball. People act like some teams are hitting on every pick, every season. They don't. Has Mac done great? No. Has he done poorly? Other than Hack, no. He's done OK, and if he is like the rest of us, he will only get better at his job with experience.

The Giants 27th ranked Run 2 says hello sometimes it's team and scheme do you prefer mo wilk over harrison? honest question No contest. Snacks at 5 year/$46 million is a much better deal than Mo's 5 year/$86 million. I was never a fan of paying Mo. A NT is a safer bet than a DE with a history of "effort" issues. I would have signed snacks and franchised Mo until he either signed for a team friendly deal or I could trade him.

If we are calling a spade a spade I refuse to give Macc any credit for drafting the likes of Leo or J Adams as I dont RM with the Raiders for picking Cooper or Mack, these are nailed on selections that we as fans could make, you're not a good talent evaluator just for taking a nailed on can't miss superstar between picks 1-5 I prefer to judge a GM's on the very thing that has been killing this organisations or many years and what we need Macc's "talent evaluation" skills for....and that's picking above average talent between rd's 2-4, but let's face the facts that Macs record in those rounds doesn't fill me with much confidence. The Devin Smith pick doesn't get a pass with me either because he's injured all the time or the same could be said for Milliner and he's out of the league. Listen dude I'm all open for soldiering on with Macc and Bowles and seeing this rebuild through properly but you have to agree that he's been average at best so far o he's open for criticism and rightly so IMO.

The Devin Smith pick doesn't get a pass with me because he's injured or the same could be said for Milliner and he's out of the league. Listen dude I'm all open for soldiering on with Macc and Bowles and seeing this rebuild through properly but you have to agree that he's been average at best so he's open for criticism and rightly so. Fair points. IMO, the jury should still be out on Mac. He is not the disaster that Idzik was. I believe constant change is the enemy of success in pro sports. I do think that Mac deserves some more time. I take it as a good sign that he truly understands that tanking is the appropriate strategy for this season.
