Get cousins and draft QB. Why does it have to be one or the other? Different deal for Alex Smith. I think Wash could still take a QB because Smith is getting on in years. Not so with Cousins. _

So is Cousins another Testaverde or Neil ODonnel?

The jets are not one piece of the puzzle away from a super bowl. Period.
If you want to overpay for a used dildo on the downside of a career and be saddled with that contract for years, rock on.
You say his shit stats are because of injuries and a shit O line. Guess what - that’s exactly what the jets have.
So, overpay for a used dildo, on this jets team, and you’ve got wasted money on an average QB on a team that will jerk themselves at 8-8 for 5 years.
No fucking thank you. I’d roll the dice on drafting a QB, spend that used dildo money on a FA RB and O line.
For the record, the jets are already fucked. They totally blew it last year not drafting a RB and O line to set up a Roomie QB for this year and years to come.

They can make Cousins the highest paid QB in the league, and then if they choose to do so, still go out and add Andrew Norwell and Ryan Jensen to the OL and a WR like Jarvis Landry or Allen Robinson and STILL have the available cap space to re-sign some of their own guys like Claiborne, Davis and ASJ. And then in addition to that, STILL have the 6th overall pick and two additional selections in the Top 50 alone. The Jets aren’t prohibited from improving the team by throwing the bank at Cousins. Far, FAR from it. That’s precisely the reason why they stand a good chance to land him.

Get cousins and draft QB. Why does it have to be one or the other? I believe Cousins will only sign somewhere that commits to him they aren’t also taking a QB top 5 or 6. He’s going to want big money so you’re going to have to go all in. Signing him for 5-6 years and then spending the 5th or 6th pick on a QB, while something we fans may dream about, would be an incredible waste of a draft pick. You can’t pay Kirk big money and then say “hey, if he doesn’t workout we’ve got Baker Mayfield in reserve. For 5 years.” Cousins isn’t going to want a top pick QB looking over his shoulder, having a bad game getting booed and have the fan base constantly calling for the high draft pick. If I’m Cousins, and I hold all the cards, I’m getting it in stone that when I sign, that pick is going to help with an Olineman, Barkley or anything OTHER than a QB. _ This. By the time Cousins contract is done, that rookie QB will now have been developed to sign somewhere else on his next contract. You either sign Cousins and build around him, or draft a rookie and build around him. Doing both may seem safe, but is redundant and a waste.

Which IMO, passer rating is a pretty shit stat to begin with.

Same shit. As much as we could want both, you aint just drafing Mayfield to sit on ice for 4-5 years... and the bitching from fans too.

We’re going to have to spend. Given that, do you try to become competitive immediately or do a slow build. _

Bottom line is the Jets have the resources in both FA and the draft to turn this thing around in a jiffy if they play their cards right. They need to come out with a big set of balls as soon as that clock strikes midnight on March 14th and swing for the fences. After a few cuts they’re going to have roughly $105-110 million in cap space and league rules dictate that you HAVE to spend a large portion of it.

I want Cousins bad, but if he ends up in Denver that still benefits us immensely.
There is essentially no way we do not end up with Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, or Cousins now.
Could you imagine the doomsday scenario though were Cousins is a Bronco and we take Josh Allen or Mincah Fitzpatrick while any of the other QBs are on the board. LOL just setting myself up emotionally for this.
