I'm really surprised someone hasn't already created this thread? Let's hear what you think. Were these picks addressing need or were they strictly BPA? Did the Jets get better in 2018? Or will this only benefit them years from now? As a result will the Jets win more games this season?
I'll start out...
I think this draft was barely acceptable on the part of Mac. Pretty much poor choices throughout? I think Sam Darnold has a very high bust factor. Mac then goes and takes a project DL? God I hate these constant projects our GM constantly reaches for? WHY in the world did he decide to deprive the offense of an OL? In 4 years it seems to me Mac doesn't give a shit about OL? How good can any of our skill players be with a crap OL in front of them? I also don't think any of these draftees will help the Jets win games in 2018. In other words this draft is quite similar to 2016. Mac didn't care about the season in front of him and as a result, with no rookie infusion, the Jets went 5-11.
I think 2018 is another 5-11, maybe 4-12 team? The problems are many. The OL will be what makes this offense terrible. On defense, this DL is going to get pushed around and the entire front 7 is going to get gashed in the run game.
All I can say is Mac couldn't care less about getting this team in the playoffs in 2018? He just doesn't seem to care? Like there's no consequence if the Jets finish 5-11 again.

Go to JN if you want football talk. Haven’t you heard this is Ragu’s rathole? All we do here is look at naked whores and abuse each other, although you might walk away from this place with a good recipe or penis scar advise or some shit like that.
Anyway I’ll give it a go....B+

Grade-B Darnold gets the grade up and I agree about the project DL from Ft Wherever ST is iffy. Although that Cannon kid does look like he gets shot out of a cannon with that speed.
Im just hoping we hit FA market on OL.

I've been super critical of Macs past drafts and rightfully so because we still have a subpar roster going into his fourth season. However I think this was his best draft because A) Darnold fell into his lap and B) he's starting to draft guys with measurables and I'm not sure why because it goes against his grain. Maybe it's Heimendinger getting more control and I read an article where they are now looking more into analytics. Instead of drafting a Burris he drafted a corner with speed and ball skills. Instead of plodders on the Dline he finally drafted some athletes. I'm going with a solid B and I hate Mac.

I think most people who rate drafts are idiots who don’t know shit from shinola. I especially like the idiots who attempt to pick the players they want their team to get in all 7 rounds as if the rest of the teams won’t draft them. People who love to talk about the players that liked who turned out good but neglect to mention all of the failures they would have picked. The so call expert usually suck as well.
So any opinion spouted here won’t mean jack shit to me.
Anyway... is anyone interested in starting a 2019 seven round mock draft?

For the record, the expert idiots at the NFL Network gave our draft an A+.

Anyway... is anyone interested in starting a 2019 seven round mock draft? I was thinking of starting a 2025 mock draft where you have to guess which kids will attend which college to play football. Then, the second round is creating a mock draft from the kids that actually got into the colleges you picked. Only really hip, informed, knowledgeable sports guys will even get past the first round. The kind of guys I would want to hang around. F Flampers

Right off the bat I disagree that Darnold has a very high bust factor. I think, personally, skill and personality wise, he's the least likely to bust, i.e. highest floor, while others may potentially have a higher ceiling. Macc has traditionally eschewed OL in the higher rounds - not having a second rounder killed us there as a lot of OL talent went off the board between our 1st and 3rd round picks. I like the rest of the picks for the most part. Guys with good measurables and across the board hard working high character picks from what is being reported. Shepherd should be able to rotate in on DL, Herndon should step in and play right away assuming the knee has healed, which he says it has. Parry Nickerson could be Skrines eventual replacement as nickel CB, at a much cheaper price, and Cannon, the RB/Returner looks like hes shot out of a cannon on film. I give it a B/B+, good picks for where they were picking. Lack of a 2nd rounder hurt. I think youre crazy if you thought this team was going to be a real playoff contender overnight in '18. McCown will probably start the season, give way eventually to Darnold when ready. Next years FA and draft may well be where they improve the OL, and who know who shakes loose with camp cuts later on this summer?

If Darnold is a franchise QB it's an A+. If he busts it's an F.

Mac has been here 4 drafts now and they've been terrible two seasons running and they have far less talent than when that boob arrived. So don't even attempt a lame accusation like somehow I have unfair expectations. Three straight losing seasons is grounds for firing ANYONE.

Would have prefered all offense picks. However, we got the projected best qb in the draft so I dont give 2 fucks who else we drafted. How many 5-7 round picks really make an impact?
